Flooding in the Manor East area earlier this month.

IT’S been announced that €44,396 of funding has been allocated  to Kerry County Council, under the Minor Flood Mitigation Works and Coastal Protection Scheme.

The funding has been allocated by the OPW in response to an application submitted by Kerry County Council for the removal of debris, deposition and sediment under bridges and weir and associated works in Tralee.

The allocation of funding will also permit a structural survey and an inspection of bypass culverts to be carried out.

Labour TD, Arthur J Spring welcomed the announcement: “Considering the recent flooding in the Tralee and the costly damage caused to stock and businesses, especially in the Mile Height area of Tralee, this funding is very necessary in order to minimise the chances of future flooding. Now that funding has been granted, I will be asking Kerry County Council to carry out the necessary works and survey as soon as possible.”
