THE Phoenix Women’s Shed is holding an event to support and encourage the sharing of pre-loved clothing and to support women in the Arts and Crafts industry.
Taking place on Thursday, November 30, from 10.30am to 2.30pm at the Pipe Band Hall off Matt Talbot Road, the group are encouraging sustainability as well as showing women that they do not need to spend a fortune to look and feel good.
We have 70 members at the Phoenix Women’s Shed with the majority of the women retired. The committee is run by five volunteers who are also retired.

“We recognise the financial burden on women especially at this time of year with the cost of heating and the pressure at Christmas to buy gifts, new outfits for Christmas events and social gatherings,” said a spokesperson for the group.
“Our preloved fashion show aims to give the message that good quality classic clothing is an investment. When worn with different accessories, dressed up or down, it can look like a completely different outfit,” they added.
The Christmas Fair will feature vintage clothes, jewellery, arts and crafts, festive food, chocolates, cakes, Christmas wreathes and more. All are welcome to attend and all proceeds raised will go the Phoenix Women’s Shed.
