SUNDAY proved a fantastic opening day of the Listowel Harvest Racing Festival with a sizeable mix of locals and visitors invading ‘the island’.
It was also the premiere of the much anticipated Lyrath Estate Hotel Best Dressed Couple Competition — judged by Radio Kerry’s Elaine Kinsella — which was won by Jacy Ybanez from Tralee and Brian O’Connor of Abbeyfeale.
Sunday was also family day with Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Giggles Entertainment with a free disco, face painting and balloons and the free Wooly Farm with chicks, guinea pigs, hens, ducks, rabbits, lambs, piglets and pygmy goats, plus Roo the Llama.

The racing continues today with the ‘Forever in Blue Jeans’ competition sponsored by O’Connor’s Hardware & Farm Supplies and mc’ed by Billy Keane and will judged by a fashion panel from Listowel Racecourse.
The highlight of the racing is the Liam Healy Memorial Lartigue Hurdle €50,000 and the 1st Race is off at 1.25pm and admission is €20. Scroll down for photos…
