THERE was a good turnout, despite the bad weather, as the Kerry Motor Club and the Ballyfinnane Community Hall Association marked the 120th anniversary of the first motorsport event in Kerry by running a hillclimb event in the area.
The Ballyfinnane Festival of Speed took place over Saturday and Sunday and attracted motorsport enthusiasts from near and far.
The event celebrated the 120th anniversary of the Ballyfinnane Hillclimb when, on July 15, 1903, the first-ever closed-road motorsport event in Kerry was won by Charles Rolls, who later founded the Rolls Royce Motor Car Company.
Killarney Valley Classic and Vintage Club also held a Classic Car Show as part of the event with a great turnout of vehicles. There was plenty to entertain the crowds with music and entertainment in the village throughout the day. Michelle Breen Crean captured the atmosphere in her photos below…
