AUSTIN Stacks kept their county league title ambitions on track with a win over arch rivals Kerins O’Rahillys at Connolly Park on Saturday night on a scoreline of 1-15 to 1-5.
O’Rahillys were without all their key players through injuries, holidays and Kerry duty and found it tough going against a Stacks side who effectively ended the Strand Road team’s chances of a top two place.
Austin Stacks had the aid of a strong breeze in the first half and they notched up three points before a fine goal from Kevin Walsh levelled matters.

That was the only score O’Rahillys managed in the first half though and Stacks’ superiority showed with four more points before the break, with the scores 0-7 to 1-0.
The contest was all over 12 minutes after the restart when the home side had five unanswered points before Strand Road’s first point of the game on 43 minutes.
They traded three points apiece until Jack Morgan struck a goal for Stacks with four minutes left to seal the deal. The Rockies now go joint top of the league with two games left. A home victory over Kilcummin and a win away against Templenoe are needed to guarantee a County Final place. Scroll down for match action…
