GIRLS teams from eleven clubs around the county headed for Na Gaeil GAA club on Saturday to remember a Garda who lost her life over 10 years ago.
The Carmel O’Connor Under 10 Garda blitz saw teams from Na Gaeil, Duagh, Annascaul, Finuge/St Senan’s, Austin Stacks, Listowel Emmets, Castleisland Desmonds, Dingle, Abbeydorney, Scaraglin and Kerins O’Rahillys play games in good spirits.
Kerry star, Garda Aidan O’Mahony, was also there to pose for photos and give medals to the girls.

“It’s an initiative to get young girls out playing,” said one of the organisers, Garda Liz Twomey, who also remembered her late colleague. “Carmel was a member of an Garda Siochana who lost her life after a battle against illness so it’s a way of remembering her,” said Liz.
The weather held off, for the most part and the kids had great fun in the tournament. Scroll down for photos…
