IT was cold. It was wet. There was lots of red.
The annual Tralee Santa 5k Fun Run went ahead on Sunday morning and fair play to the hundreds who turned out to raise much needed funds for the children’s ward at University Hospital Kerry.
It was a sea of red too as participants made a great effort to dress up in festive gear, which lifted the mood on a cold and showery morning.
Over 500 registered for the run and organisers thanked everyone who showed up making for a fun morning at Tralee Bay Wetlands.
Each year the run is held in memory of Fiona Moore who passed away at the age of 16 in May 2013 from Pulmonary Hypertension, while waiting on a lung transplant.
Previous beneficiaries of the run were Make-a –Wish, Heart Children Ireland, Barretstown and Ronald McDonald House and just under €40,000 has been collected for these charities. Many more thousands were raised after yesterday’s event. Scroll down for photos (we’ll have more photos from the event later)…
Please let us know how much it raised for future article. Thank you.
