LAST Thursday, Kerry College held their Apprenticeship Information Evening and Parent/Guardian/Applicant Information Evening as part of their Open Week.
Over 900 visitors attended both events in Monavalley and Clash Campus. In Monavalley visitors could meet hiring employers and apprenticeship providers and find out about the apprenticeship system.
They also had the opportunity to speak to current apprentices and see what it was like to work as an apprentice.

Companies who exhibited on the night included: Altrad, Bus Eireann, Bathrooms 4U, Dairymaster, ESB Networks, Enercon, Energywise Ireland, FIT, J.F. Flynn Construction, McCarthy Insurance Group, Liebherr, O’Carroll Engineering, OPW, Southwest Engineering, Sligo Training Centre (Butchery Apprenticeship), TLI Group, Torc Precision Engineering Ltd.
Manager of the Monavalley Campus, Con O’Sullivan said; “We’ve had our busiest ever Open Week which is a clear sign that parents, school leavers, career changers and jobseekers are looking for a more direct route to work and progression within their careers. At our Monavalley Campus, our range of practical skills training courses and Apprenticeships is constantly expanding and will always meet this need.”
He thanked all the companies who exhibited at the Apprenticeship Information Open Evening which took place in Monavalley on Thursday night. This was a very successful night as hundreds of visitors came to meet a range of hiring employers, apprentices and had their questions answered by the Apprenticeship Services.”
In the Clash Campus Dr. Eddie Murphy, Clinical Psychologist and current Kerry College learners spoke to the audience about Further Education and Training and their own educational journeys and how entry into Further Education and Training has had a positive impact on their lives. This interactive information session received excellent feedback.
Principal of Clash Rd, Denny Street and Listowel campuses, Mr. Stephen Goulding, was delighted with the event.
“This was a great opportunity for visitors to come and visit the Campus in person and speak to learners and staff on site. They could see first-hand what the Kerry College experience is like.”
He was also delighted with the parents/guardians/applicant’s information session on Thursday evening in the Clash Rd Campus where guest speaker Dr. Eddie Murphy, Clinical Psychologist spoke to parents about his career path and the transitions we all make in our lives.
