THERE were so many standing ovations at Siamsa Tíre last night, the seats hardly had time to stay warm.
A capacity crowd packed the famed Tralee venue for a performance by two of the town’s much-loved sons, Mark Leen and DJ Curtin, who delivered a extravaganza of music and impersonations which had the audience in raptures.
Opening the show, DJ Curtin rolled back the years and thrilled the crowds with ‘Noreen Bawn’, ‘The Boy From Nowhere’, ‘I’m Just A Gigolo’ and ‘Elusive Dreams’ among others.
Then Mark took the stage for his ‘Many Voices Of Mark Leen’ show which draws on his vast repertoire of songs and artists.
He delighted audiences with singing impressions of Johnny Cash, Dean Martin, the Bee Gees and Garth Brooks to name but a few, with numerous changes of outfit along the way, as well as playing the clarinet, trumpet and his impersonations of celebrities.
The audience gave several standing ovations to both performers and, with the show sold out since early this week, don’t be surprised if the duo make a return later in the year.
