THE MTU Event Management students hosted an evening of drag comedy in support of Novas Homeless Services on Tuesday night in The Blasket.
‘Drag Me Upstairs’, was a fun evening of drag show comedy upstairs at the bar, as part of the final year of their degree.
Drag queen Ivanna took to the stage for a memorable performance featuring lip-sync battles, interactive games, and comedy, with support from Cork based DJ BMG Sound.

The event was designed, planned, and run by final year Event Management students at MTU and raised valuable funds for Novas, a charity who work with those affected by homelessness in Tralee and around Ireland.
Speaking about the event, final year BA Event Management student Katie Farrell said; “We’re thrilled with the success of Drag Me Upstairs. We organised this event to boost student engagement with Tralee town centre and raise money for charity. We are especially grateful to our main sponsors Meadowlands Hotel, The Blasket Bar and MTU Kerry Students Union for their support and to all the local businesses who donated prizes on the night.”
Over 150 students danced the night away, with Ivanna inviting the class group onstage for a final rousing rendition of ‘All I Want for Christmas is You’. The event forms a component of the students Event Operations Management module.
