PHOTOS: Opening Day Of Killarney’s July Racing Festival

KILLARNEY Racecourse is hosting JulyFest — a five-day summer horse-racing festival from Monday  to Friday — this week with patrons converging on the course for the opening day yesterday evening.

For many patrons, the most competitive event of the week will take place off the track on Friday in the form of The Lee Strand Best Dressed fashion event. This year’s celebrity judges are Kerry’s own and Digital Content Creator Tadhg Fleming and 2021 Miss Ireland Pamela Uba.

On Wednesday the Irish stallion farms & European breeders fund (EBF) continues to support Killarney Racecourse featuring the highlight flat Race Cairn Rouge Stakes of €50,000 while theRoses will be onsite to meet their escorts.

TG4 will be broadcasting live from the corporate balcony on Thursday, featuring the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Hurdle of €18,500k while Friday is Lee Strand Best Dressed Day with the following features on the card The Lee Strand Handicap Hurdle of €22,000, The Boylesports Handicap Steeplechase of €45k.

Finishing off the July festival there’s the Christy Lucey Mares (Pro/am) Flat Race of €11,500.  Friday is an afternoon meeting with the gates open at 12 noon and the first race off at 2pm. Scroll down for photos…
