THE young actors, singers and dancers from the Bryan Carr School of Performing Arts put on a marvellous show at Siamsa Tíre this week.
In four performances over Tuesday and Wednesday they thrilled hundreds of people of all ages with the popular musical based on the 1988 John Waters movie of the same name.
Around 120 performers had been rehearsing since January for the show and Bryan Carr said he was delighted with the run when we spoke to him before Wednesday’s matinee. He also said the show has also been an education for his students.

“It’s a good family show with a great history behind it. We talked in the stage school about social integration, social justice and the Civil Rights movement in the States in the 60s and it informed them in a big way about the injustices the occurred,” he said.
“But it was also fun for the kids to dress up and have their worn worn high like they had in the 60s, so it’s been great,” said Bryan.
This is Bryan’s 17th year involved in stage school productions and the his own school celebrates its 10th anniversary this year so it’s onwards and upwards for the next musical later this year. Scroll down for photos…
