THERE were very few dry eyes in St John’s Church on Friday as the Presentation Secondary School sixth class girls gathered to celebrate the end of their schooldays.
The annual graduation was, as usual, an emotional affair as the girls reflected on the past six years of highs and lows, friendship and camaraderie at the school.
The students and their families were welcomed by Deputy Principal Chrissie Kelly followed by a ceremony celebrated by Fr Vitalis.

Each student then received a certificate of completion and a Presentation pendant before Head Girls Ciara Sharp and Adra Kongjoni gave a wonderful speech about the great times in Pres.
Then it was time for Principal Mairead Finucane to deliver some sage words for the departing students.
“You have encountered some trials and tribulations along the way, however with commitment, tolerance and persistence you have soldiered on and come out stronger,” she said.
“You have experienced magical moments that will be fondly remembered in the years ahead. Remember the real power of creating and being responsible for your own future.
“As you journey there will be challenges ahead. However, where you are determined to succeed, you will make the right choices. Follow your passions, follow your dreams, but most importantly, believe in yourselves,” added Principal Finucane.
The ceremony in St John’s ended with the students singing Abba’s ‘Slipping Through My Fingers’ no doubt prompting moms and dads complaining about having ‘something in their eye’ as they wondered where the last six years have gone.
Then it was back to the school for refreshments where, on arrival, there was one more important task to complete — the opening of the letters the girls wrote to themselves when they were first years starting in Pres back in 2017.
More tears and laughter ensued on a day the Class of 2023 will always remember. Scroll down for photos…
