“We are very proud of our academic standards as well as our achievements on the sports field,” said principal, Cáit Uí Chonchúir.
“What should not be forgotten is, at the end of the school year, while these kids were winning sports competitions, they were also coming in performing exceptionally well in there exams,” she said.
The first trophy was won back west, in the the Ghaeltacht. For the second year on the trot, Gaelscoil Mhic Easmainn, won the Feile Peil Gael Linn football competition. While out there, the school also won the mini-league, put on just for Irish speaking schools.
Soon followed the Boys Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Football Division One and the the girls division one title in the same competition.
Not just handy at football, the school also added a Boys Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Hurling Division Two title, a Inter School Girls Basketball Blitz and – with plenty going on upstairs as well – an Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Quiz County title as well.
Gaelscoil Mhic Easmainn, have been conducting their Active Week all this week. Each day the school has organised a different activity, the whole thing culminating on Friday with the Corn Uí Dhonaill football competition.
“Active Schools week is something the kids always look forward to,” said Cáit Uí Chonchúir.
“It’s an ideal year to have it because we’re winding down at the end of the year, the courses are more or less all finished, it’s something for the kids to look forward to,” she said.
