TRALEE Pitch & Putt Club celebrates its 40th year anniversary this year and has just launched its 2015 Youth Academy.
Since its inception in 1975, Tralee Pitch & Putt club has provided the ideal sanctuary for countless youths of the town.
The club was founded at the old Champhers (John Mitchels club/current Aldi site) in 1975. In 1984 the club relocated to its current site in the Novitiate, in Killeen. The clubhouse was built in 1986.
Throughout its 40 year existence, the club has always prided itself on the nuturing of the youth of the town in a environment that is safe and fun.
Hundreds of kids have spent their days at the idyllic location honing their skills of the game that is amenable to them. The club also prides itself on its accomplishments in producing players of the highest standards with players such as the Walshe brothers (Aidan and Ronan) – National Juvenile Champions in 1986 and 1992 respectively and more recently Jonathan Goodall, National Senior Champion 2013.
The club is celebrating 40 years in existence now with the launch of its new academy on May 16.
The academy will be geared specifically towards 9-13 year olds with two hours supervised play and coaching for 6 six weeks from Saturday May 16.
There will be competitive and more importantly, non-competitive action throughout the summer.
There will also be Tour of Kerry in July (courses in Listowel, Castleisland, Killarney -Deerpark & Gleneagle – and Newmarket will be played) and a club outing to Cork in August.
The academy is designed to give the kids an introduction to a game that the club is confident they will learn to love.
