A CHARITY race night was held in Seán Óg’s bar last night organised by two barmen who are off next month to run the London Marathon.
Fergal Dooley and John Moriarty, are running in the event to raise money for the Irish heart disease and stroke charity ‘Croí’ and a good crowd of friends and well-wishers came down to support the worthy cause.
There was a tote system in place and loads of spot prizes for every race and prizes for best jockey and trainer along with a raffle.
“We got all ten races sponsored by local businesses and we want to thank them sincerely for that,” said Fergal. “We also had over 20 spot prizes which we’re grateful for and we’d like to thank all who came tonight and supported us in the pub quiz before Christmas as well,” said Fergal.
The lads will take their place alongside the 30,000 competitors taking part in this year’s London Marathon on April 24 and preparation for the gruelling event is coming on nicely. They will be part of a group of 250 running for ‘Croí’. All funds gathered will stay in Ireland.
