Second Phase Of 94 Housing Units At Lohercannon Won’t Be Delivered Until Late 2026

61 units at Cluain Láir, Lohercannon were completed at the end of 2022. 94 more units are planned for the area in the coming years.

THE next phase of social housing in Lohercannon will deliver an extra 94 units, but they won’t be delivered for around four years.

Council management gave an update on the their social housing plans at the meeting of Tralee Municipal District councillors last Thursday.

Three housing  schemes by approved housing bodies will deliver housing units in 2023 at Chamfers Place in Mitchels where there will be 18 units (10 one bedroom and eight two-bedroom apartments) completed by March; at Hunters Lodge 10 two bedroom apartments will be ready by September and three one-bed and 12 two-bedroom apartments at Fels Point will be ready in March.

Two developments are to start later this year. At Locke’s Shop, Mitchel’s Road, construction of eight one-bed units will begin in August with an estimated completion date of November 2024. Work on 16 apartments at Hawley Park (12 one-bed and four two-bed units) starts in July but won’t be finished until April 2025.

Looking further ahead, the construction of 27 units at Matt Talbot Road won’t start until June 2024 and 19 units at Garryruth won’t start until May 2024, with both due for completion towards the end of 2025.

Over in Lohercannon, the second phase of social housing will see 94 units planned to begin construction in September 2024 with an estimated completion date of November 2026. The Cluain Láir estate of 61 units at Lohercannon saw the first tenants move in at the end of 2022.
