KERINS O’Rahilly’s Club in Strand Road will play host to a special fundraising evening this Thursday night with a table quiz in aid of the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind.

Tralee native Sharon Hayes is organising the event in an effort to raise funds for the charity in support of her upcoming trip to Spain to undertake the enormous feat of trekking 100km of the Camino de Santiago Walk.

Sharon travels to Spain in September to begin the walk just over the border from Portugal before heading towards Santiago de Compostela.

She has always had a great interest in the charity and is also excited at the opportunity to take part in such an amazing life-changing event.

“I’m just doing my bit and it’s something I always wanted to do,” she said and I understand she’s been in training for the adventure for months.

The table quiz kicks off at 8pm on Thursday night, July 31 in the Strand Road Clubhouse and is set to be a night full of entertainment with well-known Oakpark man Mike O’Donnell performing the MC duties.

In addition to prizes for the top winners of the quiz, there will also be a vast range of great spot prizes on the night, ranging from a lunch voucher for two in one of Tralee’s nicest hotels to a variety of very generous donations from local businesses in town, and many more.

Finger food will also be provided so there will be no hungry mouths. Table of four costs €20 and it starts at 8pm.

All proceeds from the night are raised in aid of the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind, a charity that is dedicated to helping persons who are blind or vision impaired.

They aim to help these people, as well as families of children with autism to achieve improved mobility and independence. The charity receives 80% of its income from voluntary contributions and fundraising nationwide so all donations on the night are very welcome.
