Short Film Directed By Castleisland Man Nominated For IFTA

A CASTLEISLAND man has seen a film he directed nominated for an Irish Film and Television Award.

Shaun O’Connor, a former Gaelcholáiste Chiarraí student, directed ‘A White Horse’ which has already won a plethora of awards on the film festival circuit.

It won Best Irish Short Film at the Foyle Film Festival 2019, Best Irish Short Film at the
Kerry Film Festival 2019, Best Overall Short Film at the Richard Harris International Film Festival 2019, Best Production Design at the Kinsale Sharks 2019 and Best Independent Short at the Underground Cinema Film Festival.

This morning it was nominated for Best Short Film at the IFTA Awards 2022.

Set in 1970s Ireland, ‘A White Horse’ features a young female patient who has escaped a psychiatric hospital and rings home from a telephone box….but her parents are waiting for the call.

In other IFTA news, Jessie Buckley was nominated in the Best Supporting Actess category for her role in ‘The Lost Daughter’, adding to her BAFTA and Oscar nominations.
