Snow/Ice And Low Temperature Warnings Issued For Coming Days

DESPITE a warning, the ice and freezing temperatures didn’t materialise in the Tralee area overnight and this morning, but yet another weather alert has been announced.

Met Éireann has issued Status Yellow Snow-Ice and Low Temperature warnings for Ireland taking effect tomorrow and into Friday.

According to Met Éireann, there’ll be rain, sleet and snow will spread northwards across the country later tonight and during Thursday accompanied by strengthening easterly winds. Accumulations of snow are expected in many areas along with icy conditions.

Sleet and snow will likely transition to rain in southern areas for a time with hazardous driving conditions, travel disruption and poor visibility possible.

The Snow/Ice warning is valid from 3am on Thursday to 11pm that night. Meanwhile the Low Temperature/Ice warning will be in place from 9pm on Thursday to 10am on Friday.

Looking locally, at the moment the Met Éireann website shows temperatures falling as low as -1ºc in the Tralee area with sleet or snow also forecasted between 2am and 9am. Thursday will be a showery and cold day with snow and cold temperatures forecast for that evening and night.
