SPRING is definitely in the air at Presentation Tralee as the students prepare for the Easter holidays.

In the courtyard in the school, the trees have suddenly become more colourful with the introduction of some painted eggs.

German teacher, Marian Cronin, explained the reasons behind it. “It’s an old German tradition. The egg is a symbol of life an rebirth. So we decorated the trees here, each class has their own colour and all the First Year classes are represented. We hope to grow the tradition from year to year in the school.”

Meanwhile, over in the school’s polytunnel, the spring gardening initiative is in full swing as teacher Clem O’Keeffe explains.

“We set up a gardening club in the school and we’re teaching students about the importance of organic gardening, looking after wildlife, nature and biodiversity.”

“We’re starting with planting seeds for flowers and food and the students will learn how to separate out the seeds once germinated,” said Ms O’Keeffe.
