REPORTS ;
(U13) John Joe Naughton Cup ; Park Fc A 4-1 Mastergeeha Fc ,

A decent cup game, played in the wonderful KDL facility, with a dogged Mastergeeha side giving Park a good test for long periods in each half.

Park started well and tested the Mastergeeha keeper on a number of occasions.
Danny Jeffers, Kieran O’Connor and David Feeley had given Park a strong foothold in midfield and this was allowing Park to dominate possession and create scoring opportunities.

Cianan Cooney and Colin Doody both had chances before Kieran O’Connor opened the scoring in the 11th minute. His powerful header gave the Mastergeeha keeper no chance after a quality delivery from Doody.

Josh Connolly was narrowly wide a minute later and Park would rue their missed chances when in the 17th minute Mastergeeha equalised. Park lost possession in midfield and a superb long range effort, aided by the wind, beat Liam Carmody to put the Killarney boys level.

That’s how it remained at half time and Park had some adjustments to make.
Sean O’Connor entered the fray and immediately had a shot saved by the very able Mastergeeha custodian.

Strong defensive work from Jack Kearney, Seán Hill and Ben Hanafin in particular meant Mastergeeha rarely threatened the Park goals in the second half and the Tralee lads were now constantly probing for weakness in the Mastergeeha lines.

Sean O’Connell, who had a fine game and Colin Doody, who was Park’s man of the match, had further chances before good pressure on the ball from Park’s Adam Wharton presented Doody with a chance which he duly dispatched to put Park back in front.

Doody got his second and Park’s third with ten minutes to go when Seán O’Connor put him through for a fine finish.

Josh Connolly wrapped up the win with a fine header two minutes from time.
Park advance to the next round of the John Joe Naughton Kerry Cup but know that they will have to up their performance levels significantly if they are to deliver silverware this season.

Park play Aisling Annacotty next Saturday at home in the SFAI Regional Final at 2pm. Please come out and support the boys.

Panel: Adam Wharton, Cianan Cooney, ColIn Doody, Messiah Chirwah, Josh Connolly, David Feeley, Danny Jeffers, Seán O’Connor, Conor Kerins, Samuel Aladesanusi, Ben Hanafin, Jack Kearney, Seán Hill, Kieran O’Connor, Seán O’Connell and Liam Carmody.
(U13) John Joe Naughton Cup ; Park B 7-2 Killarney Celtic B ,

It was a windy day in Christy Leahy Park and when we lost the toss it was into the wind for us in the first half.

We started off brightly and created a good few chances early with Adam Murphy and Mark Sheehan going close,Celtic we not getting out of defence easy and our lads were on top at the back for much of the first half but like all games if you don’t take your chances it can come back to bite you and to Celtic’s credit they started to mount a couple of decent attacks and when they got a lovely pass inside our defence there was only going to be one result and we went in at half time 1 down.

A few words to our lads at half time and 2 changes were made where we brought on the bright U12 player Mike Tansley and the lively Conor Kirby.

From the off we started much better and had chances straight away when Adam Murphy scored from a lovely ball from Kilian Murphy 1-1 and then straight away Killian himself scored after a great run through the middle and banged it into the roof of the net.

Full of confidence now we got 2 more goals with lovely play by Conor Kirby which resulted in Cian O Niell and Adam getting his 2nd goal,Celtic tried there best to get out of the back but fairplay to our lads with the pressure they forced on the Celtic lads we got a corner and from the corner Cian O Shea was there to strike it to the net.

5-1 now and we brought on Conor Duggan and Jack Slattery and they didnt disappoint with Conor Duggan following in for the revoked and scoring his first Park goal.

Celtic broke up the field when our lads were all looking to score and they got there 2nd goal which to Celtic’s credit was taken very well from a strong run up the right 6-2 now with a few mins left, Adam Murphy completed his hat-trick to cap off a fine display and a well deserved Man of the Match award.

All in all it was a good performance fromantic all the squad from our keeper all the way to the subs, We are now into the quater finals and awaiting the draw to find out who we get next.

Well done to all and continue to improve with every training session. Also thanks to Celtic for a sporting match.
