A TRALEE soccer club is finalising plans to host a 16 team charity soccer tournament in aid of the Kenya Education Project next month.

St Brendan’s Park FC is set to host the tournament on Saturday August 22 at Christy Leahy Park.

The Kenya Education Project was founded by a Killarney man, Eddie Sheehy in 2003 after a missionary trip to the area (to find out more about it click here).

St. Brendan’s Park FC had intended hosting this tournament earlier this summer featuring teams that played in last season’s under 12 premier and Division 1 (2008 players) of the Kerry schoolboys and girls soccer league.

So far Tralee Dynamos AFC, Killarney Athletic A.F.C., Camp Juniors FC, Fenit Samphires F.C., Killorglin AFC have confirmed their participation alongside the host club.

They are also talking to the clubs that were invited earlier this year to the tournament so the line-up should be completed by this weekend. This will be a 7 v 7 event which allows the club to maximize the pitch space.
