Juvenile Academy:

St Pats u-8’s, took part in the well hosted John Mitchel’s Tournament last weekend. Play got under way at 11am with the last game at 2pm. We played against Austin Stacks, Ardfert, John Mitchel’s, Ballymac & Castleisland Desmond’s.

In all the games our u-8’s  acquitted themselves very well and played with great heart, spirit and determination. Luke Passway, Sinead Murphy, Mark Vansteenkiste,  Michael Enright, Rory Daly and Millie O’Brien all defended well at the back.

Daniel Sheehy, Mark O’Brien and our goal poacher supreme Jack Costello worked their socks off around the middle. Grainne Breen, Darragh Murphy, Killian O’Mahony and Caoilainn Culloo gave their opponents endless problems up front and special mention must go to young Robert O’Shea and Conor O’Dwyer who both gave it their all for the team and performed brilliantly.

The management team of Johnny Enright, John Breen and Sean Daly were delighted with the effort and the skills each player showed in all the games.

They would also like to thank all the parents, family and friends of the players who came along gave their support. It’s important that each player continues  to improve by practicing their skills at home now that we are on a break for a few weeks. Enjoy the break and be safe.

Our u10’s participated in the John Mitchels tournament last Saturday against Austin Stacks, Castlegregory, the host team, Ballymac and Castleisland Desmonds. Even though we had a good few missing due to holidays etc., those that played gave a very good account of themselves and got better with each game played.

We witnessed outstanding displays from Daragh O’Dwyer who took several knocks but got back up. Our backs were ably marshalled by Keelin Enright and Gearoid O’Se, Caoimhe Dairo and Seanie Murphy also excelled in the middle of the field and we had Thomas Sheehy and Fionn Dairo banging in the goals. Training will resume on the 23rd of August and we urge all players to keep practicing their skills in the meantime.

U-14s:

Mitchels 4:7 St Pats 0-8

St Pats took on mitchels in what proved to be a very tough game for st pats which saw Patrick Dowling be marked by a few people and in turn our forwards found it  hard to break the mitchels back s down.

Mitchels  scored two goals and a point with out reply but we eventually got a score from Patrick. St pats had to work very hard for all their scores. Ian McCarthy made some good saves in goals, some great defending by Damien Quirke, Ciaran O Donoghue, Martin savage and paddy Murphy and some great ball from Cathal Fitzgibbon set up some good scores for Patrick, Fergal o Brien ,Tomas o Sullivan,  Brian Teahan, Ali Gardezi. Fergal   did alot of running off the ball and was receiving great ball from Darragh Moriarty.

Tomas and Fergal  scored two great points and this was followed by a goal from mitchels but st pats never gave up. Cormac lynch came on and did his usual running and got plenty of ball and he and Jamie o Brien put together a few passes to set st pats up for a goal chance but was a missed chance.

Patrick followed this up with two points with some great play from Mario and Jamie. Patrick took his points well. Danny came on and played like a terrier putting their backs under pressure and never gave up. Ali Brian and fergal never gave up through out the game.

Our backs and goalie had a super game and dealt with serious pressure very well. St pats forwards did very well playing against a very strong back line. This was a good performance against a very strong team but st pats never gave up. It was a great team.performance despite the result and all the subs that came on tried very hard.

St. Pats were beaten by a strong Laune  Rangers  team on Thursday night. We were 1 point up at half time but laune rangers upped their game in the second half winning easily in the end.
