U-10s:

Our u10’s played Na Gaeil boys in the astroturf last Sunday and it was a game between two equally matched teams. Despite the weather conditions, the game was played in a friendly and competitive manner.

Our mixed team played very well with Lisa Rowan giving a man of the match performance. We also had exceptional point and goal scoring by Fionn Dairo and Seanie Murphy.

James Dowling was rock solid in defence and also proved to be an excellent ball blocker when he went in goals. Sean Whelan who was playing his first competitive game after one training session also did very well as did Rory Kelliher who keeps improving.

There will be no training this Sunday due to the All Ireland final and we hope to see everyone back the following Sunday at the usual time of 10.30

U-12s:

Central League, Annascaul 3-3, St. Pats 5-6. We gained a measure of revenge for our County League defeat to the same opposition earlier in the year. After a tight first half, we led by a point thanks to scores by Tomás (a goal and a point) and Danny (point).

A top corner screamer by Cillian was the boost we needed to kick on in the second half, and further goals from Jade, Tom Brett, and Mikey Healy were added to by Danny and Tomás (2 points each) to complete the scoring.  Seán and Corey were always looking to get on the ball, and set up several of our scores.

At the other end, Nathan’s kick-outs invariably found their target, and Michael Doody, Matt, Daniel, Oisin, and Conor Healy were tigerish in the tackle.  Samuel made a welcome return, and his assured handling and passing opened up the Annascaul defence on several occasions.

This was a result that the work being put in by the team deserved.  Next up is our final Central League game at home to Keel on Monday evening.

U-14s:

St Pat’s 5-12 Kerins O Rahillys 1-10
On Wednesday last the old rivalry between St. Pat’s and Kerins O Rahillys played out another epic in which St. Pat’s won on a sweet score of 5-12 to 1-10 . Some great performances from all who played in this game.

Gavin Doody had his usual solid game in goals and his kick outs were pin pointed to St. Pat’s players at all times. The backs Niall McCarthy, Damien Quirke, Paddy Murphy, Martin Savage, Brian Teahan and Tomas O ‘ Sullivan played very well and tried hard as they have done all year in every game and prevented O’Rahillys from adding to the score on many occasions. St. Pat’s midfield of Cathal Fitzgibbon  and Ali Gardezi covered loads of ground and most of the ball went through them.

They both set up many scores for the able forwards of Fergal O Brien, Tomas  Jamie O’Brien,  Cormac Lynch, Danny Greaney, Patrick Dowling and Nathan Rowan. Fergal played as a third midfielder scoring 1-4 on the night.  Patrick scored an amazing 2-5 showing what a great forward he is .

Danny scored a fantastic goal after receiving a great ball from Nathan. Cormac scored a super point from play after working hard to get the ball. Tomas who was playing in the backs still managed to score 1-1.

All in all this was a great performance with super play from the team and the subs James O’Sullivan, Michael Everett and Tadgh Kerins all played there part when they came on. There was great delight at the final whistle by players and supporters alike. This was a fantastic win over the old rivals.

U-16s:

St Pat’s 8-12 Stacks B 1-5
A brilliant performance by St Pat’s un-16 s on Monday night last against Austin Stacks B and resulted in a great win and they put up a huge score line. This was a great team performance from no 1 to no 16.

Sean Hogan in goals made some fantastic saves and his kick outs worked out very well on the night! Cathal Fitzgibbon ,Joe o Connor and Damien Quirke played very well in the back line as always they blocked ball after ball and cleared it out to St Pat’s player every time.

Mikey Cahill and Bryan Murphy put in a super performance with Bryan making great runs from the back line and in one solo run he scored a fantastic goal to add to the other point. Gearoid covered a lot of ground and linked up well with the forwards and scored 2/2 on the night!

Patrick and Fergal who also play with the un14 s played very well and both picking off some great scores showing that they are well able for the step up to un16s. Eoin Greaney and Jack Lynch proved a great combination linking up well with each other and feeding Jo Quilter some great ball!

They all scored some great scores with Eoin scoring 1-2 and Jack scoring two great goal s in a short space of time .

Joe got some great ball in full forward with his height proving hard for Stacks to deal with and he too kicked some great score s and relieved some great ball from Adam Boyle and James Friel who tried hard for the whole game!

James too got on the score board with 1-1 with the goal coming from a great pass from Adam! Martin Savage another un14 came on in the second half and he too played his part. This was a great win and some great performances on the night by all who played

Family Fun Day and Walk:

A great day was had by all who attended the St Pat’s GAA fun day on Sunday September 6th last !

The day started off with a walk in honour of our great club man Tony Todds o Donoghue and some 80 people including a lot of club kids took off for a 5 k walk in glorious sunshine .This was followed by teas and freshly baked cakes and buns which were donated by all the good people of the parish !

It was now time for a first in the club as the mothers and others took to the field playing our famous Feile team and both teams produced a great game of football!

The ladies ran out winners much to the delight of the big crowd in attendance , the first of many .Next up was fun games and races on the astro turf with much of the attention being drawn towards the wheelbarrow race which created much debate as to who actually won it! I think it may have been a win for Mayo the first of the weekend !

The draw for the all Ireland ticket was won by K C Anne o Donnell and this ended what was a great day .A huge thank you to all who took part in any way, thanks to all the coaches and committee who helped with setting up the field ,games ,the walk, teas and all those who baked buns and who helped in any other way.

A huge thank you to Sean Murphy who was DJ on the day. All donations on the day will go to the Palliative Care unit so thanks to everyone who donated and attended a great day out .
