Juvenile Academy

U5

Under 5s enjoyed a fun morning at football training. We practiced our kicking, high catch and passing, pick up on the run and dodging volcanoes! Everyone displayed great teamwork to get all the cones picked up and put in the right nest. We finished with a game of sharks and fishes. Congratulations to Molly Wall, this week’s player of the week.

U7

Another great session for our u7’s last Sunday, Thankfully the rain stayed away for the lads. Well done to Cormac Steward player of the week. Keep up the practice at home boys.

U8 Girls

The weather was perfect for an upbeat session at St Pats academy. We welcomed Emma Falvey to the group, she fitted in very well showing off great kicking skills. Following fun drills contesting for the ball, tackling, evasion & kicking we worked on hand passing & high catching. Great to see the girl’s confidence improving all round. Our match play was a little more tactical with set zones to get the hand of spreading out & positional awareness. The coaches were delighted to see great passing & teamwork from the girls.

Save the date Sunday 18th September away to John Mitchells.

U9

We started with a penalty competition which was brilliantly contested, Flynn Nicholas and Cillian got to the final, with Cillian coming out on top in the end. We went into a relay with the ball which the Westies won and then finished with a game where Noah, Eanna Luke all had good games and the blue team won out in the end with Tommy Flynn playing a captain’s part. See you all again next Sunday morning at 10.30am

U10 Girls

Great session this morning we had a big turnout of fifteen girls we had a very competitive game and we also worked on our point kicking and goal scoring and well done to Lexi who was well deserved player of the week.

U11 Boys

On the evening of the 1st of September our U11 panel hosted Glenbeigh-Glencar in the Central Region Go games. We had a great turnout again, so we were able to arrange two games, for the Bridge and The Windmill teams. The Windmill team game was very evenly contested with excellent passing and movement from our players, and great performances from AJ Turner in goal, Thomas Higgins in defence and Oscar Flynn up front. In the other game, the Bridge team played very well against a young Glenbeigh-Glencar side. There were very good performances from Daragh Sheehan, Charlie Sharp, James O’Riordan and Thomas Colivet. Dylan Passway and Fionn Sharp had their best games of the season. The Go games and extra practice at home has really brought on the group and it is encouraging to see the development of the players over this year.

Many thanks to Glenbeigh-Glencar coaches and players for their great attitude and sporting manner of their play in both games.

Training continued on Sunday morning where we were delighted to see the return of Tommy and Hugh Costello, Rian and Noah Flynn. We had a good skills session to work on Pickup, High Catch and Hand pass followed by an energetic practice match. We would like to see our players continue to practice their skills at home ahead, especially the overhead catch.

We will return to St Pat’s on Thursday evening for a challenge game against Ballyduff at 6:30pm, followed by training on Sunday at midday.

U12 Girls

Well done to Ava who won our player of the week trophy. Ava gave it 100% at both training sessions from her warmup to drills and especially in the match at the end scoring two goals and two points. Ava has improved dramatically in the 3 months since she joined St. Pats. It is evident Ava is practicing her football skills. Keep up the good work and well done once again.

U13

On Tuesday, the 30th we travelled to Cromane to play against a combined Glenbeigh/Glencar/Cromane team in the Under 13 Central League sponsored by Kelliher’s Toyota Tralee. Despite playing good football and having an abundance of scoring opportunities, especially in the second half, we did not make it count on the scoreboard resulting in a loss to the opposition who were much more clinical with their scoring chances. On Saturday we travelled to Cordal to participate in the Jimmy Roche Memorial Tournament organised by the local Club. We had three good games in the group stage and lost out in the Shield semi-final to Scartaglin. This was a very well organised tournament, and our appreciation goes to the Cordal Club for the invitation to participate and the hospitality on the day.

U14

KOR/St Pats U 14s enjoyed participation in the Lee Strand sponsored Blitz hosted by Austin Stacks in Connolly Park on Saturday last. We had a draw in our first group game with Stradbally of Laois and then suffered a defeat to a strong Dublin side of Ballyboden/ St Enda’s. We defeated Ennistymon of Clare in the Plate semi-final before being beaten by an excellent Na Gaeil side in the Plate Final. This was a great experience for players and coaches and Congrats to all players and mentors and we express our gratitude to Austin Stacks for extending an invitation to our clubs and for hosting a great event.
