Registration 2023

Now that some of our teams have resumed training and others will be resuming shortly players and coaches, please register your membership of the Club for 2023.

One of the benefits of registering as a playing member of the GAA or LGFA via the Club is that in the event of an injury sustained playing or training resulting in medical expenses it may be possible to claim a level of refund from the GAA or LGFA Injury Benefit Fund.

However, any player seeking to benefit from the Injury Benefit Fund must be a registered member of the GAA or LGFA on Foireann at the time of injury.

The respective Injury Benefit Funds are self-funded entirely from the GAA and LGFA funds with no outside involvement. The Injury Funds are not an insurance scheme. The Injury Funds are set up to assist members with some reimbursement for medical expenses incurred due to an injury sustained playing Gaelic football.

The respective Injury Benefit Funds do not seek to compensate fully for injuries sustained but to supplement other Schemes such as Personal Accident or Health Insurance. The GAA and LGFA Schemes only provide cover for unrecoverable losses up to the limits specified under the respective Schemes. More details can be viewed on https://learning.gaa.ie/InjuryFund or https://ladiesgaelic.ie/resources/injury-fund/

Foireann Mobile App

A Foireann mobile app is now available, and this is the only official membership and communications app for GAA, LGFA & Camogie clubs. The app is available for both iOS (via the Apple Store) and Android devices (via Google Play).

The Foireann Mobile app makes it even easier to manage your Foireann profile and all the ways you interact with the Club. We ask all members to download the app as it will make it easier to manage membership, update contact details and keep up to date with team activities.

The Foireann membership and communications app is fully integrated with the Foireann membership system – members can log in on the app with their existing Foireann account to see upcoming events which includes event details for anyone in your Family. The app also puts news, fixtures, and results in your pocket so you can stay up to date with the most important and relevant information.

Foireann is the GAA system used by clubs to manage membership and it allows members to register for membership and pay online using the Mobile app or the Foireann system at www.foireann.ie

U5

Great work this morning boys, girls, mums, and dads and especially our player of the week Duo Laila and Tadhg!

Their smiles and enthusiastic efforts won them the trophies this week. Everyone will get a turn throughout the season! It was a loud and busy session, we are delighted to have so many boys and girls joining in but fully understand some of the younger kids can drop in and out of the session as they need.

Parents are encouraged to stay and join in where they can especially until the children get used to the environment! Try to practice the with hand catching this week and balloon / ball kicking off the laces. Well done everyone.

U7

We had an excellent first session in MTU today. Great numbers turned out, and we had some great organised chaos. We did a lot of refresher skills just to reintroduce the kids back in. We had some great help with Brendan Poff and our new coach Oliver Murphy
Looking forward to next Sunday again and we encourage all kids to practice during the week.

U8 Girls

We were delighted to welcome our enthusiastic U8 girl’s back to the MTU for the start of the season and especially our 3 new girls Hannah, Vivienne & Hannah G who fitted right in and really added to the session.

The girl’s practised evasion, movement and ball handling in an energetic 1st session before closing with some enjoyable roller ball against some very agile parents!  Thanks for the participation and we look forward to seeing you all next week.

U9

Our u9’s had their first session of 2023 on Sunday, where all the lads arrived full of energy, and delighted to be back. After our warm up, we had 2 fundamental movement grids set up, followed by our skill drills which got them all back into action. We finished up with a game,  where we had some great tackling and scores. Congrats to Jack who won Player of the Week.

U10 Girls

And just like that we are back! Great session today a great bunch of girls and three very enthusiastic coaches, Noel, Johnathon, and Kieran. We worked on all our fundamentals hand passing,  kick passing ,tackling.

The girls showed great enthusiasm and grasped the basic skills very easily. Congratulations to our player of the week who has obviously being practicing very hard all winter. We had 10 players today and hope to have 15 next week .

If we could have 1 or possibly 2 female parents to help us during the year ,  it’s not an issue when we are indoors but when we move outdoors a female presence will be essential at all matches & games with  the 3 coaches , who will try to make the majority of games and sessions , many hands make light work! If anybody is interested please can you let Kieran o Shea know ,We won’t expect ye there every week! A huge welcome to our new players today ye were all amazing.

U11/U13

Our U11 and U13 combined sessions took place last Thursday on our own Astro and also last Sunday as part of the opening day in the academy up at the MTU. We have had great attendance so far and we look to working with the players for the season ahead. Our county league will commence as soon as the clocks go forward at the end of the month.

In the mean-time, we will participate in the U13 Town League for the next three Sundays. Our first game is this Sunday where we host Churchill at 4pm. We will also train as normal on Thursday from 6-7pm.
