Registration 2023

Now that some of our teams have resumed training and others will be resuming shortly players and coaches, please register your membership of the Club for 2023.

One of the benefits of registering as a playing member of the GAA or LGFA via the Club is that in the event of an injury sustained playing or training resulting in medical expenses it may be possible to claim a level of refund from the GAA or LGFA Injury Benefit Fund. However, any player seeking to benefit from the Injury Benefit Fund must be a registered member of the GAA or LGFA on Foireann at the time of injury.

The respective Injury Benefit Funds are self-funded entirely from the GAA and LGFA funds with no outside involvement. The Injury Funds are not an insurance scheme. The Injury Funds are set up to assist members with some reimbursement for medical expenses incurred due to an injury sustained playing Gaelic football.

The respective Injury Benefit Funds do not seek to compensate fully for injuries sustained but to supplement other Schemes such as Personal Accident or Health Insurance. The GAA and LGFA Schemes only provide cover for unrecoverable losses up to the limits specified under the respective Schemes. More details can be viewed on https://learning.gaa.ie/InjuryFund or https://ladiesgaelic.ie/resources/injury-fund/

Foireann Mobile App

A Foireann mobile app is now available, and this is the only official membership and communications app for GAA, LGFA and Camogie clubs. The app is available for both iOS (via the Apple Store) and Android devices (via Google Play). The Foireann Mobile app makes it even easier to manage your Foireann profile and all the ways you interact with the Club. We ask all members to download the app as it will make it easier to manage membership, update contact details and keep up to date with team activities.

The Foireann membership and communications app is fully integrated with the Foireann membership system – members can log in on the app with their existing Foireann account to see upcoming events which includes event details for anyone in your Family. The app also puts news, fixtures, and results in your pocket so you can stay up to date with the most important and relevant information.

Foireann is the GAA system used by clubs to manage membership and it allows members to register for membership and pay online using the Mobile app or the Foireann system at www.foireann.ie

They really enjoyed the obstacles course. Our players of the week were Rian and Aoife. Well done to everyone and see you back at the MTU for the next few weeks until the weather improves.

U7

The U7’s had another energetic training session this week . Well done to our player of the week Tommy Watkinson , who impressed the coaches on Sunday. Keep up the practice at home Boys!

U8 Girls

Thanks everyone for a lively session at MTU on Sunday, lots of smiles and rosy cheeks.! The girls showed great interest and eagerness and their skills and confidence are improving each week, keep up the practice at home. No Player of the week, this week due to a trophy injury but looking forward to seeing you all again next week.

U9 Boys

Great work from our u9’s this week, everyone was full of running and all had great fun. After our warmup and agility course we worked on our hand passing and the “pick up” and finished with 2 great competitive games. Well done to all the lads and especially Tadgh our player of the week. Make sure to keep up the practice at home. Thanks also to our coaches Michéal, Paidi, Noel and James.

U10 Girls

All the girls were excellent at Sunday’s training session. A marked improvement on hand passing in the last few weeks the teamwork and communication was exemplary.

Our player of the week was well deserving.

U11

A fabulous afternoon of sunshine meant this Sunday’s training session was extra enjoyable for all involved!  Skills continue to improve and in our training game Darragh Murphy ran riot, with great contributions from Jayden, Cillian, and Jake. We ask that all the players make an effort to practice at home, especially with our St Brendan’s board games due to start this week. Naomh Pádraig Abú!!

U13

Due to the recent inclement weather, it has played havoc with our activities over the past week with our last game of the Tralee/St Brendan’s District League having to be postponed and we also missed out on two other training sessions.

However, we did manage to get a session on the Astro in horrendous conditions last Thursday in advance of the County League.

We had to concede home advantage in our opening game last Sunday against Dingle which ironically was played in lovely sunshine in Páirc an Ághasaigh. Missing a number of regulars through illness and injury, we were heavily defeated against our much stronger opponents.

Thanks to Dingle for hosting the fixture, to referee Johnny O’Shea from Annascaul for officiating and to Noah Flynn for making his competitive debut for the u13’s.

We will train again this week on Tuesday and Thursday, most likely on the Astro pitch. Our next game is a home game against Cordal next Sunday.

Exact training details to be circulated later this week. Panel who played against Dingle: Rylan Flynn, Rian Flynn, Paddy Flynn, James Daly, Jace Flynn, Luke O’Sullivan, Tommy Costello, Stephen Enright (C), Thomas Colivet, Aidan Berry, Callum Rice, Isaac Price, Charlie Sharp and Noah Flynn.

U14 Girls

The girls made the trip to Ballylongford on Sunday afternoon to play their 2nd game in the u14 NCP division 8 against Shannonside Tarbert. It was an exciting game with both sides level at half time.

The girls were playing in a huge pitch, with no subs but each and every one of them gave it their all, they  never gave up and covered every blade of grass on the field till the very end. Well done to each and every one of them for their efforts .We will train on Tuesday again at 5.30 and Thursday at 5 o clock in St. Pats Astro. Our next game is away to John Mitchels B. Date and time to be confirmed during the week.

Seniors

Our Seniors are scheduled to play in their Credit Union County Senior Football League Division 4 Round 2 against Cordal in Cordal on Sunday the 2nd of April at 2pm.

Please keep an eye out for changes to fixtures in O Shea’s Gala, Byrnesworth and St Pats Old Clubhouse.

Senior B’s

Our Senior B’s game against Waterville in their Development League Campaign Division 4 Round 1 which was scheduled for Sunday 26th of March did not take place.

Good Luck

To our U15 team who get their County League under way on Wednesday evening next away to Spa.
