U11

St Pats U-11’s were in Central Region League action last Thursday away to St Michaels Foilmore. Thanks to all the parents who drove the kids down to south Kerry for the game it was much appreciated.

Well done to all our players, they all performed brilliantly on the night. The coaches were delighted with the skills shown by our players during the game. A special mention for young Aaron and Austin who both played brilliantly for us on the night, St Pats future is safe with these two boys.

Our next game is this Thursday 10th of August away to Churchill. It is important you all continue to attend our training sessions and also keep practicing your skills at home during the week. The training and match details for the week will be circulated to parents shortly. Naomh Pádraig Abú!!

U12/U14 Girls

The girls had a quieter week this week, with no game but had an energetic training session on Thursday evening. Many are looking forward to getting the bus to Croke Park on Sunday to support the Kerry Ladies Senior team in the All-Ireland Final against Dublin.

U13

Last Tuesday, our U13’s hosted Castlegregory in the last game of the group stages of the Central League.

It was a game of quarters with Castlegregory dominating the 2nd and 3rdwith our boys performing well in the opening and closing quarters. We got off to a whirlwind start with a fortuitous goal by Rían Flynn followed by some points by Tommy Costello, Rylan Flynn (score of the half from a ’45) and Noah Flynn in the opening quarter to open up a sizeable lead.

Castlegregory started to get a grip of the game around the middle and their midfield, centre and half forwards came into the game and caused our defence big problems, scoring a number of goals and points. A well worked Tommy Costello goal just before the half time whistle left us in the lead by two points at the break.

Castlegregory continued their scoring spree in the second half with a further two goals and 3 points to build up a 7-point lead. A number of positional and personnel switches were made which helped our boys back into the game. Dee Hanly intercepted a short kick-out and wisely passed off to Thomas Colivet who pointed, and this score kicked our boys into gear. A speculative shot deflected off AJ Turner into the Castlegregory net set up a grandstand finish. Another goal from long range by Rían Flynn closed the gap further and points from Rylan, Hugh Costello and Noah sealed the win. FT Score: St Pats 5-16 Castlegregory 5-13.

Seniors

Our Seniors began their Kerry Petroleum Junior Premier Club Championship Round 1 against Waterville in Killorglin last Sunday, the opposition scored three points with a replay coming from Kieran Hurley within a few minutes of the half beginning.

Two quick points again for Waterville, Brian Murphy got a point with Fergal O’Brien adding a goal. Waterville were quick to answer with a goal of their own, St Pats got four unanswered points a point each for Eoin Greaney, Fergal O Brien and two points for Kieran Hurley.

With a point from Waterville and another coming from Kieran Hurley, Waterville quickly added two points. Gary Savage and Tommy Lynch each got a point of their own which brought us a point ahead when the first half whistle blew. St Pats 1-09 Waterville 1-08

With both sides coming out in the second wanting to come away with a win, Waterville quick off the mark rattled the back of St Pats net and added another point within seconds of this half.

Fergal O Brien put the ball over the bar to add another point to our tally, the opposition added another point with Eoin Greaney getting his own two points.

This was Waterville’s last score for a while, but it didn’t stop them from fighting for every ball, with seven points scored without reply our scorers were four points from Kieran Hurley, two points from Eoin Greaney and a point from Fergal O Brien.

Great scores under hard conditions at times, two more points from Waterville it was Patrick Dowling who finished the game with a point, and we came away with our first win. St Pats 1-20 Waterville 2-12
