Juvenile Academy

U5

Well done to all the boys and girls who joined us for under 5 training on Sunday, with the under 7s low on numbers due to some playing up a level, we gave some of the more senior lads a chance to play up to U7s … really well done to those boys for giving it a try! Over the next few weeks, we will continue with our U5 training with a more senior end match in each session.

Keep practicing all your kicking, catching, and bouncing skills at home. Well done to Kai our senior match player of the week & to Danielle for getting the hang of her skills in the junior match. Great work everyone.

U7

Training continued this morning for the boys; everyone had a great session, but Bobby stood out as the deserving player of the week.

U8 Girls

We’ll done to our fantastic U8 girls on an incredible display of teamwork and skill against Austin Stacks on Sunday Morning Last. What we lacked in player numbers we more than made up for in skill and attitude – they all played very well!

Very proud coaches and parents all around!

U9

Our U9 boys welcomed John Mitchels to Blennerville on Sunday Morning last and played three fantastic games. Our boys showed off all their skills and teamwork and played some lovely football. A big thanks to John Mitchels for coming out us.

U10 Girls

We played Austn Stacks on Sunday Morning they had double our numbers, but our girls showed great tenacity and spirit and as much as Austin Stacks attacked, our spirit never wilted and if anything we grew in strength and endeavour as the game continued.

Special mention must go to our newest recruit Sibah. She never played GAA before but took to it like a duck to water. Onwards and upwards girls ye were all brilliant and should be so proud as we the coaches were!

U11

St Pats U-11’s travelled west last Thursday evening to play Lispole. It was a highly entertaining and competitive game. Well done to all our players who took part on the evening, they performed brilliantly. West Kerry District games continue this Thursday evening with a game against Castlegregory. The details of this match will be circulated to parents shortly. Naomh Pádraig Abú!!

U13 Girls

We took part in the Sandra Keane tournament on Saturday last which was organised by the North Kerry Board. It was a great day out and so well organised. It was an extremely warm day for football.

Our girls were up against it in this tournament and knew going into it that some of the teams would be very Strong. Considering we are usually playing b teams, the girls stepped up and gave a great account of themselves over the 5 games.

They showed great heart and determination in all the games and in extremely warm conditions. Our first game was against Castleisland who were very strong and beat us well despite St pats playing very well, Castleisland were just too good.

Next up we played MK Geals who were a pleasure to watch. The way they moved the ball and some of the scores they took had to be applauded. But yet again our girls didn’t shy away and got stuck in.

But again, it was just a step too far for us and MK Gaels went on to beat us well and ended up winning the overall tournament.

Up next were old rivals Na Gaeil and there wasn’t much between the two teams, and this proved to be a very good close game. St pats were eventually winners of this one after a hard-fought game coming out with a point victory.

Next up was local derby against a very strong Stacks team and again our girls showed great heart in getting stuck in to this one. From 1 to 15 all played their hearts out but again Stacks got the scores on the board.

This left us in a playoff with Tarbert for a plate final spot which again could have gone either way but just for a bit of bad luck.

Overall St pats did very well and were up against in all games playing much stronger teams whom had panels of 20 which was needed in the heat. Our girls will gain huge experience from this, and it was great to see that they weren’t afraid of the stronger teams.

Well done to all involved and it’s great to see some of the new players who have never played before excelling and playing so well. Thank you also to Melissa for the lovely ice cream badly needed.

Our players recently took part in the Jimmy Roche Memorial Blitz hosted by Cordal.

U13

Last Saturday, we entered a team in the Jimmy Roche Memorial Blitz which was superbly hosted by Cordal GAA Club. After an early rise for the players, we arrived in Cordal shortly before our first game vs Beale.

We started brightly and led at half time, but Beale fought right back into it in the second half and managed to get over the line.

Our second game was against Currow, and we again led by 2 points at half time. Going into the final quarter, it looked like we were going to win but Currow scored 3 goals on the bounce to defeat us.

In the final group game, Cordal were much too strong and were well in front at half time. We played much better in the second half to make the score line much more respectable.

We played Castleisland Desmonds in a semi-final and the lads played their best full game of the day emerging as winners. This put us in the 3rd tier final where we came up against a formidable Rathmore team who deserved their victory.

A huge well down to our captain for the day Gearoid and all the players who played in extremely hot weather. It was a great experience for all the lads. Thanks also to Maurice, Tom, Michéal and all in Cordal for running a fantastic blitz.

We look forward to attending again next year. With the competitive season coming to a close, we hope to arrange a few more games over the next few weeks.

A number of our players has commenced training for other sports so we will now just train once during the week on Tuesdays from 6pm to 7:15pm. We will update parents with games through the WhatsApp group over the coming weeks.
