Registration 2024
Now that some of our teams have resumed training and others will be resuming shortly players and coaches, please register your membership of the Club for 2024. Membership is a vital part of ensuring the club’s continued success and development. Whether you are a player, coach, supporter, parent of a player or member of the wider community we welcome you to register with St. Pat’s. We ask you this year to register through http://www.stpatsgaaclub.com or on Foireann www.foireann.ie which is available on Apple and Google Play to download.
One of the benefits of registering as a playing member of the GAA or LGFA via the Club is that in the event of an injury sustained playing or training resulting in medical expenses it may be possible to claim a level of refund from the GAA or LGFA Injury Benefit Fund. However, any player seeking to benefit from the Injury Benefit Fund must be a registered member of the GAA or LGFA on Foireann at the time of injury.
The respective Injury Benefit Funds are self-funded entirely from the GAA and LGFA funds with no outside involvement. The Injury Funds are not an insurance scheme. The Injury Funds are set up to assist members with some reimbursement for medical expenses incurred due to an injury sustained playing Gaelic football.
The respective Injury Benefit Funds do not seek to compensate fully for injuries sustained but to supplement other Schemes such as Personal Accident or Health Insurance. The GAA and LGFA Schemes only provide cover for unrecoverable losses up to the limits specified under the respective Schemes. More details can be viewed onhttps://learning.gaa.ie/InjuryFund or https://ladiesgaelic.ie/resources/injury-fund/

U5
What a great start to our St Pats U5 2024 season in the MTU! We were delighted to see so many faces join our group of 30 boys & girls for a noisy session! We worked on our fundamental movement skills of change of direction, jumping running & our ball skills kicking, catching, bouncing and pick-ups.
We played fun evasion games & did plenty of running! Hopefully all the kids got as good a workout as the coaches! It was a hard job to pick out first 2 players of the week. this week it went to Jack Lynch for his enthusiasm & demonstration skills & to Éabha who just joined us & listened attentively & joined in every game. Newcomers are always welcome, see you with plenty of energy for next week’s session! Back at the MTU 11am on Sundays
U7
Our U7’s had an excellent session today with great numbers in attendance, with warmups out of the way it was time to improve on skills which were worked on last year such as catching and controlling the ball. The energy from our U7’s for the entire session was unreal, Also Well done to Tom who was player of the week.
U8 Girls
Great to be back we had a great session today, we worked on our kicking and all the girls were well able to kick with both feet which is unbelievable for their age group.
We can’t wait again for next week as there were a few players missing for various reasons all new players welcome, bring a friend along its great fun. See you all next week.
U9
A super start to our season, well done to all the boys and a big welcome to all who have just moved up from u7’s, they all slotted in brilliantly. We had 3 stations today where we worked on our fundamental movement, pick up and hopping/soloing/catching. We finished our session with 2 great small sided games.
We have asked the boys to practice the solo and hand pass at home this week as much as they can. Big thanks again to our coaches James and Noel. See them all again next week.
U10 Girls
We had 14 girls for our 1st enthusiastic session this morning in the MTU. It was great to welcome back the girls, newcomers to the U10s from last year’s U8s and girls joining us for the first time this season.
We had a high energy session with fun and games designed to work on movement, and skills in a fun and positive way. Very well done to Emily, one of our newcomers for winning this week’s player of the week. keep up the good work. Keep up the practice at home girls and we look forward to seeing you all again next week.
U11
St Pats U-11’s were back training after the winter break last Sunday on the Astro in the MTU. Great effort by all our players especially Eoin Mc, Tommy, Michael and Fionn.
It’s important all our players continue to attend our training sessions and keep practicing the skills at home during the week. Matches will be starting soon. Training is on again next Sunday 25th Feb from 11am to 12pm in The MTU Astro hope to see you all there. Naomh Pádraig Abú!!
U12 Girls
A great turnout for the first session of the U12 girls this season. After the introductions were made, we went into some fun skill-based routines and bringing the skills learned into small sided activities.
The girls who have moved up from U10 were excellent and fitted in seamlessly. We will train again next Sunday at the MTU but hopefully out on the Astro which will give us more space to work with.
In the meantime, we would ask all the girls to practice the solo this week. We would ask the girls who are able to carry out the skill easily to work on their weaker side and work on the dummy solo. Thanks to Nigel Hennessy for stepping in to help this week. Anyone wishing to help out with coaching the U 12 girls, please contact Joe on 0872593800.
U13
Our U13s had their first session of 2024 on Sunday, where all the lads arrived full of energy, and were delighted to be back. After our warmup, we had some fun games followed by our handpassing skill drills which got them all back into action. We finished up with a game, where we had some great tackling and scores. Keep up the practice at home.

Seniors
This Round 3 game against John Mitchell’s where they took complete control of the first half meant St Pats didn’t get off to a great start. Cold and Muddy conditions made play hard underfoot, but St Pats never gave up their fight to take possession of the ball when able. John Mitchel’s finished the first half on a scoreline of 2-16 to St Pats no score.
With the second half beginning and John Mitchel’s still in the lead they added three more points to their score. Within six minutes of this half Eoin Greaney scored a point and a goal, with the competition heating up Fergal O’Brien and Eoin Greaney determined to close the gap each added a point with encouragement from the sideline.
Fergal O’Brien put the ball into the back of the net followed closely by two points by Eoin Greaney. With teamwork among all the players it allowed for Fergal O’Brien to add another goal and point to our tally.
Eoin Greaney final score was a point from play with Fergal O’Brien finishing the game with two points of his own. The game finished St Pats 3-09 John Mitchel’s 2-19.
