IF you fancy getting fit, having fun and being part of a team, then a new ladies football team has been formed at St Pat’s GAA Club in Blennerville.

On Friday evening, there was a good turnout for the first training session and it’s hoped the team will grow over the coming weeks.

“We had a team about eight years ago with Ann Eager as trainer and won a Junior C title but it ended,” said Niamh Daly, organiser of the new team.

“I decided to get it going again. We have new players and we hope to get more in the coming weeks. A lot of the players are from the area, but some clubs in the Tralee area don’t have senior ladies teams so some have joined us. Others here are friends, in fact we have six players who are staff from CH Chemists,” said Niamh.

“It’s the first training session and we’re registering the team this month, so we should be playing games in two months time. We’re starting off in a lower division, so it’s all very exciting,” said Niamh.

“We’re looking to have some fun. It’s for fitness as well and it’s good to get back on the field of play,” said Niamh.

Niamh can be contacted on 087-9592721 if you want to get involved. You can also show up at training on Friday nights at 7pm at St Pat’s and you’ll get a warm welcome.
