THE suspect device found on the steps of Cahersiveen Courthouse this morning, has been described by Gardaí as an ‘elaborate hoax’.

Personnel from the Emergency Ordnance Disposal unit were called in to examine the device earlier today. The area was cordoned off and the scheduled sitting of the district court was moved to another building.

Roads around the building were also blocked off and diversions were put in place.

A short time ago the device was deemed harmless and the roads have now reopened.
