The event was well-supported again in the Dome as over 1,000 people enjoyed a entertaining evening where the public vote went to Katelyn Griffin and Kyle Culloty. The style was also impressive off the dance floor as you can see from our photos below…
YOU could be forgiven for thinking that the crowds wouldn’t turn up in in the Dome on the eve of an All-Ireland final.
But they showed up in their hundreds yet again for a fantastic night of entertainment at the Austin Stacks GAA ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ event.
It was another wonderful success under the stars at the venue which will now be dismantled for another year. The 14 couples worked hard under the tutelage of Jackie O’Mahoney and it certainly paid off as they danced various styles in front of family and friends.

MC Brian Hurley did a fantastic job as usual, while the judges were left with a difficult decision to make. In the end they went for Sean McElligott and Nela Budayova while the public vote went to Katelyn Griffin and Kyle Culloty.

The Dome will host its final event of the year on this Saturday when 14 couples take to the floor at the eighth Austin Stacks GAA ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ night.
Hundreds of tickets have already been sold for the spectacular which will be hosted by Brian Hurley once again. He’ll introduce the dancers who will perform in front of a live audience and a team of judges. Strictly is a major fundraiser for the Club which has 400 juvenile members amongst its membership.

Each dancer has picked a charity of their choice and a donation will be made to the charities of the winning couple. The couples have been put through their paces by dance coach extraordinaire, Jackie O’ Mahoney, and there will be two sets of winners on the night — the judge’s choice and the people’s choice.
Doors open from 7pm, show at 8pm followed by disco ’til late. €20 admission includes disco. Tickets now on sale from Garveys Supervalu Tralee, Terrys Butchers, Rock Street Post Office and from Kevin Barry’s shop. THE Austin Stacks GAA club unveiled their Strictly dancing team for 2019 on Tuesday night at their Club in Connolly Park.
Fourteen couples will take to the dancefloor at the Dome on Saturday, August 31 and perform in front of a live audience and a team of judges.
In 2011 the then Chairman of the Stacks Club, Aidan O’Connor introduced the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ event — based on the popular BBC TV show — into Kerry and the club has hosted Strictly annually since then.

Strictly is a major fundraiser for the Club which has 400 juvenile members amongst its membership.
“We are extremely grateful to all the businesses in the town and beyond who support and sponsor our dancers each year,” said Chairperson of the club, Mairead Fernane.
“The dancers spend so much time preparing for this and great friendships are formed as a result. They literally put their lives on hold for three months and we in the club are very appreciative of their efforts,” she said.

THE search for Stacks ‘Strictly’ dancers is underway.
Yes, it’s back once again for the ninth year running and on Saturday, August 31 couples will take to the floor of the Festival Dome for Austin Stacks Strictly Come Dancing 2019.
“We’re still looking for people to get involved, so if you want your night of fame get in touch! It’s great enjoyment and there’s nothing quite like the experience,” said Mairead Fernane, Chairperson of the Stack’s Club.

“Initially, when people are asked to take part they usually say ‘I couldn’t do that’ but having agreed and spent one or two sessions with Jackie O’Mahony, the Maestro herself, they just seem to come alive and get into the swing of it and begin to wonder why they ever doubted themselves,” added Mairead.
So this is your opportunity to experience the wonder of the Dome at the end of the summer. Strictly is very much a Community effort so wherever you come from or whatever area of town you live your are very welcome to take part and remember you have loads of time for training for your part! AS we told you earlier (click here if you missed it), it was a super night in the Festival Dome with around a thousand people watching the Austin Stacks’ ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
Amy Roche and Daniel Tuohy celebrated when they were announced as the Judges Winners, while the public voted for Tim Moynihan and Marie Carroll.
There was no shortage of style off the dancefloor either as you can see from our photos below…
The Austin Stacks GAA ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ was another resounding success on Saturday night around 1,000 people cheered on the 14 couples who lit up the dance floor.
The star-encrusted ceiling of the Dome wasn’t the only thing sparkling as the couples showed that their time working under Jackie O’Mahoney’s expert tutelage wasn’t wasted.
The show began with MC Brian Hurley and ‘The Pope’ being carried to the dance floor, followed by a dynamic opening group dance. Then the 14 couples put on a spectacular and entertaining show for the masses.

The judges were Kieran Donaghy, Carmel Russell, Aidan O’Carroll, Honor Hurley and Michael Healy Rae and they certainly had a tough call to make.

The 14 couples are ready to rock in what should be an amazing night of entertainment on Saturday beginning at 8pm (doors open at 7pm).
The judges were announced this week and they are club legend Kieran Donaghy; Carmel Russell of That’s Perfect; Aidan O’Carroll of the Kerry School of Music and Honor Hurley, Dance Instructor and formerly of Siamsa Tíre.

It started back in 2011 and now the eighth Austin Stacks GAA ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ is set to be the biggest yet with 14 couple taking to the dance floor.
The Festival Dome is the venue again on Saturday, August 25, and the contestants are drawn from all over the town so there should be another massive crowd for what is always a wonderful night of entertainment.

NOW in its 11th year, the Austin Stacks ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ fundraiser will return later this summer for what is sure to be another fantastic night in the Dome.
It’s just 10 weeks away and the organisers are still looking for dancers to take part in the event which has raised tens of thousands for the Rock Club over the past decade.
“It’s a major fundraiser for the club, with much of the money raised used for projects with our juveniles,” said Mairead Fernane of the Stacks Club.

THEY’LL be celebrating in the Brogue and MJ’s Diner as Kevin Cotter and Norma O’Connor were crowned Austin Stacks ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ champs for 2017 last night.
Over 1,000 tickets were sold for the event in the Dome last night and it had all the razzmatazz we’ve come to expect from the Rockies.
This year, Austin Stacks are celebrating the centenary of the club and the theme of the night was ‘Dancing Through The Decades’, showcasing dance styles and music from the last 100 years.

Choreographer, Jackie O’Mahoney, was clearly on top of her game as the dancing from the 14 couples was fantastic. MC Brian Hurley was also on top form getting the crowd going.
It was a brilliant night enjoyed by the huge audience and Kevin who, along with wife Fiona, runs Kirbys Brogue Inn and Norma, a student at Cork Institute of Technology proved popular winners.
All of the funds raised on the night will go towards the Nun’s Field development at Connolly Park, while Kevin and Norma received a cash donation of €500 for their chosen charity which was Cuan Mhuire. FINAL preparations are being made for the biggest night of the year for Austin Stacks GAA Club and their marketing machine has produced some great promo videos in the run up to the event.
