PHOTOS: Austin Stacks Hosts Underage Football Blitz

AUSTIN Stacks GAA grounds at Connolly Park Tralee was the place to be on Saturday where the club hosted U8 and U10 girls teams from Kerry, Limerick, Clare and Cork for a Go-Games Blitz.

There were 32 teams representing 17 clubs. The Kerry teams taking part were Austin Stacks, Kerins O’Rahillys, Churchill, Abbeydorney, Scartaglin, Annascaul, Duagh, Finuge/St.Senans, Milltown/Castlemaine, Dingle, Na Gaeil, Ballyduff.

The Limerick teams were Old Mill, Limerick and Senans, Limerick, the Cork sides were St. Marys and Beara and Clare were represented by West Clare Gaels.

The venue was very well prepared with gazebos and shelter from the sun. Under 8’s played on the Nuns Field pitch, the Bishops Field pitch was well utilised and stewarded for parking, and Under 10’s used the main pitch.

Games were short at 10 minutes, to give breaks from the sun. No scorekeeping or medals were required for this event – they were all winners on the day, and there was lots of fun, friendship and great skills evident amongst the girls and great support from their families and clubs. PHOTOS: Record Participation In Carmel O’Connor Memorial Blitz

TEAMS from all over county were in Na Gaeil GAA club for the 14th Carmel O’Connor Memorial Blitz.

The tournament saw the Under 10 teams play against each other with only a few showers threatening to spoil the fun.

Clubs taking part were Abbeydorney, Na Gaeil, Austin Stacks, Kerins O’Rahillys, Duagh, Churchill, Scartaglin, Corca Dhuibhne, Dingle, Moyvane, Annascaul, Castleisland Desmonds, Finuge/St Senans and Ballymac.

“There were 17 teams taking part from Daingean Uí Chuis to Duagh with around 200 girls taking part, a record participation for the event. We’re absolutely delighted and blessed with the weather so far,” said one of the organisers, Liz Twomey. Donations on the day were made to the Tralee Branch of the Irish Red Cross. PHOTOS: Girls Enjoy Blitz In Memory Of Garda Carmel

GIRLS teams from ten clubs around the county headed for Na Gaeil GAA club on Saturday to remember a Garda who lost her life over 12 years ago.

The 13th Carmel O’Connor Memorial Blitz saw the Under 10 teams play against each other and thankfully the rain cleared up in time for the games.

Clubs taking part were Abbeydorney, Na Gaeil, Austin Stacks, Kerins O’Rahillys, Duagh, Ballyduff, Churchill, Castleisland Desmonds, St Senans/Finuge and Ballymac.

“IT’s the 13th year of the blitz and while it’s a bit wet this morning, it hasn’t dampened the spirits of the girls here,” said one of the organisers, Liz Twomey. Scroll down for photos…

PHOTOS: Hundreds Enjoys Blitz At John Mitchels Grounds

THE annual John Mitchels Juvenile Football Tournament for the under 8s and under 10s was held at in Ballyseedy on Saturday drawing around 350 youngsters to the grounds.

This was the 15th year of the tournament which has become one of the most popular in the county.

Clubs taking part were John Mitchels, Austin Stacks, Na Gaeil, Castleisland, Churchill, Ballymacelligott, Beale, Ardfert , Miltown/Castlemaine, Keel, St Pats Castlegregory and Dr Crokes.

The action began at 10.15am with the last games concluding around 2.30pm.

A fantastic day with the stars of the future on show.
