GARDAI in Kerry are warning people about hoax calls doing the rounds.
People have been ringing the gardaí to complain they have been getting hoax calls from a number beginning with 0750.
The person on the line asks for information regarding banking details and internet security. Gardaí say the calls are coming into landlines and mobiles and if you see 0750 coming up on your phone, do not answer it. If you answer, do not give them any personal details.
THE ESB are asking Tralee residents to be vigilant when answering the door to people purporting to be from their company and always ask for identification.
ESB Networks says it is aware that individuals have been fraudulently calling to homes in Tralee claiming to be from the company. In one instance last weekend, an elderly woman in Connolly Park had a sum of money taken from her home after a man persuaded her he had to check the switches in her home.

Once he had gained entry, he managed to distract her to steal the cash. All ESB Networks staff and contractors representing the company are required to carry and display ESB identification.
The company is asking the public to insist that anyone calling to their home, claiming to be from the ESB, produce the proper identification. If in doubt, they recommend calling the local Garda station immediately.
GARDAÍ in Tralee are investigating after two teenage girls went door to door claiming to collect money for the Kerry Diocesan Youth Service.
The girls, carrying clipboards, went to homes in the Ballyrickard, Kerries and Spa Road areas on Friday and Saturday night and persuaded people to give them money.
They were not carrying any identification and are described as being in their mid-teens.
KDYS say the organisation never carries out door to door collections and has warned the public against giving them money.
