GARDAI are appealing to the public for any information about two burglaries which took place within around an hour each other in the early hours of Monday morning.
At about 1.30am, a premises was broken into in Fenit and a sum of cash taken. Then later in Abbeydorney another premises was hit around 2.30am with cash taken in the robbery.
Gardaí believe a red Opel Astra may have been involved in these burglaries. They are asking anyone who saw anything, especially on country roads between the two villages, to contact them at Tralee Garda Station on 066-7102300 if they have any information.
GARDAI in Tralee are investigating two burglaries over the weekend in Tralee and Camp.
Between 8pm on Saturday and 8am on Sunday, a burglary took place at O’Dwyer’s MACE at Camp. During the course of the incident a vehicle, a black Peugeot Partner registration number 11-D-39843, was taken.
It has luminous yellow and orange chevrons on the back of the vehicle and white LED beacon on the rear of the roof of the van.

Gardaí are asking people to contact Tralee Garda Station if they see the van or noticed any suspicious activity in the Camp area on the night in question.
Meanwhile at Shanahan’s Honda Centre on the Killeen Road on Sunday, February 18, a break-in occurred at 4.40am and there were nine red Honda generators were stolen in the burglary. Also an orange Hitachi Leafblower was taken.
If someone offers a generator of leaf blower for sale, or if you saw anything suspicious at the Honda centre in the early hours of Sunday morning, please contact Tralee Garda Station on 066-7102300.
GARDAI are asking the public for any information regarding two burglaries in Abbeydorney and Milltown over the past week.
In Abbeydorney, on Friday, January 12, between 10.30am and 1pm, there was around €6,000 worth of tools taken from a person’s garage.
If anyone has been offered tools for sale or saw anything suspicious in the Abbeydorney area last Friday during the above timeframe, please contact Tralee Garda Station on 066-7102300.
On Wednesday, January 10, between 6pm and 9pm, there was a burglary on a shop in Bridge Street, Milltown.
There was a substantial amount of cash and other items taken from the shop. If anyone noticed anything suspicious in the above time period, please contact Killarney Garda Station on 064-6671160.
BURGLARIES saw a big decrease in 2016 according to the latest figures released by gardaí, but the welcome news came with a note of caution as there has been a spate of crimes so far this year.
Chief Supt Tom Myers gave the crime statistics for 2016 at the meeting of the Joint Policing Committee meeting at Kerry County Council on Monday.
There was a 55% drop in burglaries, down to 175 from 387 in 2015. There were five aggravated burglaries, an increase of one on 2015.
Chief Supt Myers, however, noted the significant increase in burglaries in 2017 so far. He mentioned the burglaries in Killarney at the weekend, in the Killorglin area a few weeks ago and in the Listowel area.

He said they have a number of intelligence-led operations ongoing in relation to burglaries and he hoped to give an update on this at the next JPC meeting. He said gangs from south Dublin and Cork city were coming down to Kerry and committing crimes.
With regard to thefts from vehicles, there were 103 last year compared to 143 in 2015 (down 28%) while there were 38 thefts/UT of a vehicle.
There were 454 thefts from shops compared to 518 in 2015 (-12%) and 227 thefts of other property, down 29% on 2015 figure of 319.
GARDAI are investigating three break-ins in the Tralee area on Friday, two of which took place at creches/childcare facilities.
They are looking for help with a break-in at the creche at the North Campus of IT Tralee in the early hours of Friday morning. The incident took place between 12.45am and 1.30am and cash was taken. It’s believed the burglar(s) gained access through a window.

Then, later that morning, between 2.30am and 3.30am, Oakview Village Childcare Centre was broken into. Nothing was taken as the alarm went off and they fled the scene. Two males in dark clothing were spotted in the area around that time and gardai wish to speak to them.
Later on Friday night, between 9pm and 11pm, a burglary took place in Liscahane Nursery and Garden Centre. An amount of cash and electronics were taken.
Gardaí are asking if anyone saw anything in the areas of the break-ins at the times given to get in contact with them in Tralee Garda Station on 066-7102300.
GARDAÍ are seeking the public’s help with burglaries in Tralee and around the county over the past week.
Gardaí are urging homeowners to be vigilant as the amount of burglaries has increased over the past month or so and they encourage people to lock doors and windows when leaving and to install an alarm system.
The childcare centre at Lios Rua, Cahermoneen, was broken into between 5pm on July 20 and 8am on July 21. Entry was gained via the emergency side doors. Nothing was stolen during the break-in.
Between 6pm on Friday, July 24 and Saturday, July 25 at 7am, the Liscahane Garden Centre near Ardfert was broken into.
Staying in Ardfert, a house was broken into by forcing open a rear window and a sum of cash was taken between 5.30pm and 7.30pm on Friday, July 24.

A house in Firies was broken into via the back door on Thursday July 23 between 9am and 5.40pm. A sum of cash was taken during the break-in.
A house in Fossa was broken into on Friday, July 24 at around lunchtime between 12.45pm and 2.15pm. The thieves entered via a rear window and some items were taken. Gardaí in Killarney on 064-6631222 are looking for information.
A house in the Killorglin area was broken into between July 21 and July 24 where a sum of cash and jewellery was taken. Gardai in Killorglin on 066 9790500 are looking for information.
A house in the Duagh area was broken into on July 23 between 8.30am and 2pm. The burglars gained entry through the rear of the house and while the home was ransacked, nothing was taken. Gardai in Listowel on 068 50820 are looking for information.
GARDAÍ are looking for the public’s help after two Tralee businesses were broken into last week.
On Thursday night/Friday morning, between midnight and 7am, a rock was used to smash the glass on the door of Spotless Dry Cleaners in Oakpark. The thief gained entry and took the cash register.
Then on Friday night/Saturday morning, after midnight, Cobblers Shoe Repair on Milk Market Lane was broken into. Entry was gained through a rear door and a quantity of cash was take.
Anyone who was in the areas and saw anything suspicious with regard to both incidents is asked to contact Tralee Garda Station on 066-7102300.
GARDAÍ are investigating a series of burglaries in the Spa Road/Balloonagh area of town on Thursday/Friday, March 5-6.
The four break-ins occurred between 9pm and 5am in the morning and mobile phones, medication, small amounts of cash were among the items taken by the thief or thieves.
The person(s) entered the houses via unlocked back doors on all occasions.
Gardaí are warning people to lock their front and back doors at all times, day and night, to deter would-be thieves.
