THE Road Safety Authority has announced that the Tralee Driving Test Centre at Government Offices at Spa Road, Tralee, will close temporarily for a period of four to six weeks from Friday, September 25.
This is to facilitate works being carried out there. From Monday, September 28, testing will be from the Mitchel’s GAA Clubhouse on John Joe Sheehy Road. They will not be conducting HGV tests at this location.
Anyone filling in an applicant for a test in Tralee up to September 25, please be informed that the automated appointment notification they will receive will have the Mitchel’s GAA Clubhouse address, but that their test will be conducted from the Government Offices, Spa Road address.
ACCORDING to statistics compiled from the RSA website, Tralee has dropped down in the list of best of places in the country to pass your driving test.
The figures from the year 2014 show that we have dropped out of the top ten places for the first time since 2011, the year that we placed in 19th.
With a pass percentage of 61.12%, still a highly respectable rate, this still places Tralee in 15th position overall, a drop of eight places since 2013, when the town was placed 7th.

The top spot went to Ennis, whose pass rate percentage was an impressive 69.53%, while the list also sees Killarney drop down to 19th position overall with 59.93%.

The figures range from the period 2010-2013 and show that aside from a drop in 2011, Tralee has consistently placed amongst the top ten places in the country in driving test success rates.

The bad news, however, is that pass rates in Ireland have fallen from 57 per cent in 2008 to 52 per cent last year, so it looks like the test is getting stricter…or people are getting worse at driving!
