Google Streetview Car Filming In Town But Is It A Few Months Too Soon?

The Google Streetview Car was in Tralee yesterday.

THE Google car was travelling around Tralee yesterday filming the streets of the town for its Google Streetview Maps service.

The last time it was updated was September 2014 just before the All-Ireland final so green and gold were prominent colours on the streets and shops, despite it being a dull day.

Well, Tralee will certainly be seen in a bright light this time as the weather has been glorious, but with The Mall closed off to traffic, maybe we’ll have to give them a ring in November to come back and finish the job.

The streets won’t look that different apart from Denny Street going two-way, the Rose Roundabout and some other little changes.

Tralee One Of The First In Ireland To Get New Google Earth Service

A NEW service from Google Earth is allowing businesses in Tralee to let customers view their premises online.

Google Business View is an extension of the very popular Street View service which provides panoramic views from positions along streets in almost ever corner of the world and Tralee is one of the first places outside the major Irish cities to get the service.

Tralee businesses who take on the new Google service will allow customers to view their premises while using Street View.

For businesses interested all you have to do is signup up on line (here) for the service which comes with an annual cost.

After you’ve contacted Google, they will have your premises photographed with a panoramic camera similar to the one used on Street View and then add a 3d tour online.

Many of the businesses who have signed up are expected to have their tour up soon, just in time for the tourist season.

Google Business View has been offered in cities , Dublin, Galway and Cork and has proved a great success. This next step will be the first wave of towns to offer the service.
