IT was a memorable night for Kerins O’Rahillys as they held their second ‘Strictly Club Dancing’ event on Friday in The Brandon Hotel.
Around 1,000 tickets were sold and unsurprisingly, many if them came dressed to impress on the night. Here’s some of the style from the night and more photos of the dancers…
INCREDIBLE dancing performances electrified the crowd in the Brandon Hotel Conference Centre last night for the second Kerins O’Rahillys ‘Strictly Club Dancing’ night.
Around 1,000 tickets were sold for the event and they got their money’s worth from the 12 couples as they danced their hearts out for the audience.
Deirdre Walsh of Radio Kerry was MC for the evening while the judges — Cllr Terry O’Brien, last year’s winner Rosie McGrath, Mary Gaine of the All-Therapy Clinic and former Kerry GAA star and now of Radio Kerry Sean O’Sullivan — had a tough time deciding on the winners.
In the end they decided on McKenzie Keane and Shane O’Sullivan who proved popular victors while Oliver Molloy and Kelly Ann Roantree won the public vote.

THERE’S just days to go to until the second Kerins O’Rahillys ‘Strictly Club Dancing’ night and it’s set to be a massive occasion again with nearly 1,000 tickets already sold.
The 12 couples are all set to go on Friday night at The Brandon Hotel after being put through their paces over the past couple of months by choreographer Jackie O’Mahony.
The judges have been announced and Mary Gaine, Rosie McGrath, Terry O’Brien and Seán O’Sullivan will have their work cut out for them. Deirdre Walsh of Radio Kerry will be the MC on the night.

As well as the entertainment, there’s some great prizes on offer on the night including Best Dressed Lady kindly sponsored by Sam McAuley Chemists with a fabulous hamper on offer to the lucky winner.

As well as raising funds for the club, two charities will benefit to the tune of €500 in total.
IT’S going to be some St Patrick’s weekend and the festivities will kick off with bang when the second Kerins O’Rahillys GAA ‘Strictly Club Dancing’ event takes place.
Twelve couples have been in rehearsals with artistic director Jackie O’Mahoney over the past number of weeks and they’re already looking fleet of foot if the evidence from the launch on Thursday night is anything to go by.

Chairman of the club, Haulie Kerins, introduced each dancing duo who are eagerly looking forward to taking to the floor at the Brandon Hotel Conference Centre on Friday, March 16.
Haulie also thanked all the sponsors, especially Ballyseedy Home & Garden Centre who are the main sponsor.
Tickets priced at €20 will be available shortly from the club house and other outlets – further details will be announced on social media over the coming weeks.

IT was a massive success last year with over 1,100 people packing the Brandon, so it’s no surprise that Kerins O’Rahillys ‘Strictly Club Dancing’ is returning next month.
The GAA club on Strand Road has announced it will take place on Friday, March 16 next in the Mount Brandon Hotel again commencing at 8pm.
The 12 couples have been rehearsing diligently over the last number of weeks and they will be officially revealed at the launch night next Thursday at the clubhouse at 9pm.

Club chairman, Haulie Kerins, in announcing the event, said; “Our inaugural event last year was an unqualified success not alone in terms of funds raised but it also brought renewed energy to our club reconnecting many former members who were delighted to give something back to the club. The event was also very much about our grass roots, and the coming together of our Strand Road community for a night of celebration and fun which helped to raise the spirits and morale of the area – we, as a club are very cognisant of the role we play and continue to play in this regard.”
Haulie also thanked Nathan McDonnell of Ballyseedy Home and Garden (and now with a new location at the Wetlands) for renewing their sponsorship this year.

Their first ever Strictly Come Dancing event was a huge success attended by over 1,000 people in the Brandon Hotel.

THE last time over 1,000 people attended a Kerins O’Rahillys event in The Brandon was 14 years ago at a gala dinner to celebrate the club’s last county senior football title success a few months before.
Well many of that team were back in the venue last night for a night filled with fun and no little style, on and off the dance floor.
They watched one of that team from 2002, Ger ‘Mush’ O’Brien, in scintillating form with his dance partner, Teresa O’Brien performing their Saturday Night Fever inspired routine. But then again, all couples were excellent on the night.

In the judges vote, the decision of Michael Healy Rae, Billy Keane, Deirdre Walsh and Caroline McEnery was that Rosie McGrath and Dominic Walker were the best dancers, despite stiff competition. Their stunning sequence had the crowd in raptures.

The blue side of town is set to converge on the hotel next month, as 12 couples will take to the floor for the inaugural Kerins O’Rahillys GAA ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ event.
Past players, Kerry GAA legends and entrepreneurs are among the contestants hoping to impress the judges at the event which takes place on Saturday, March 25 at 8pm.

The contestants were introduced at the launch on Friday night at the clubhouse by Chairman of Kerins O’Rahillys, Haulie Kerins, who revealed details of the event, which has Ballyseedy Garden Centre as its main sponsors.

The judges for the event come from the world of politics, business and journalism, with writer Billy Keane, Radio Kerry’s Deirdre Walsh, Deputy Michael Healy Rae and Caroline McEnery of The HR Suite casting an eye over the dancers’ moves. Margaret Kissane of Connect Publications and Brian Hurley will be the MCs for the night.
Of course the public will get a chance to vote for their favourites at the event and a charity, chosen by the winners, will benefit to the tune of €500.
Garvey’s Supervalu have also sponsored a great door prize of a luxury one night break for two people, including dinner and bed and breakfast, in the Dingle Skellig Hotel.
This being the first ‘Strictly’ event the club has organised, it’s advisable to get your tickets early.
