The sunshine really brought out the crowds resulting in bars and restaurants being well packed (well at capacity anyway, the new definition of ‘packed’ in the COVID world we live in)..

AT last, some real summer weather.
The rest of the country basked in sunny weather on Wednesday and Thursday, but it was a bit more cloudy around Tralee. But that all changed on Friday and the rest of the weekend is looking ‘scorchio’.
However, it was still a bit dull on Thursday evening when we visited some bars and restaurants in town, but that didn’t diminish the enjoyment of a night out. Scroll down for photos…

REMEMBER when we used to have nice summers?
Nope, me neither. But I suppose we’ll have to make do with what the weather brings and carry on regardless.
That’s what people have been doing in Tralee over the past couple of days in bars and restaurants who are doing sterling work in keeping up spirits until this pandemic ends in, ooh, about 493 years.

‘CHALLENGING’ would be a euphemistic adjective to describe the weather conditions pub and restaurant owners are facing in opening up this month.
The elements have been frustrating to say the least, but customers are showing great resilience in the face of drizzly adversity.

THE weather on Friday night could, at best, be described as challenging for people heading out on the town.

THERE was bad news for hospitality this week with the postponement of indoor dining and drinking, but that doesn’t mean Tralee is quiet at night.
We’ll have to keep our fingers crossed for fine weather over the next few weeks and on Thursday it stayed dry for people to enjoy a night out in bars and restaurants around the town.

WHILE Thursday was an awful night, Friday continued the welcoming pattern of dry weather we’ve been enjoying every weekend since pubs and restaurants were allowed open outdoors in early June.
And the good news is the weather is supposed to get even better over the next few days, so expect the limited number of hostelries that are open to be really busy!

THE past 15 months has been devastating for the hospitality industry, but it’s also forced people to get more creative in how to deal with opening up during a pandemic.
The Meadowlands Hotel have built an attractive outdoor terrace, Ballygarry House Hotel have made similar alterations and Skelper Quane’s in Blennerville has transformed their outdoor space into something special.
But in terms of style, nothing compares to Molly J’s Courtyard Bar at Benners Hotel. A lot of work has gone into the decor, design, layout and furnishings and thanks to an adept social media campaign, it’s resulting in a plethora of bookings to see what the fuss is about.
We called on Thursday and Friday evening and found a very special atmosphere permeating the courtyard, which suggests the hype is justified and Molly J’s is sure to be a staple of Tralee’s nightlife scene long after the facemasks are discarded. Scroll down for photos…

WE’VE been blessed with the weather these past couple of evenings and it made heading out for a drink or a bite to eat a much more pleasurable experience.
The crowds were out in force on Friday night with Skelper Quane’s revamped outdoor facilities persuading large numbers to head west of the bridge to the Blennerville hostelry.
The Meadowlands new, stylish terrace looked amazing when we visited and The Ashe Hotel’s outdoor space was buzzing.
In town, we saw that The Klub at Kerins O’Rahillys was flourishing in the sunshine, An Cearnóg and The Fiddler Bar ensured a lively Square while The Huddle Bar had all their outside tables occupied with folk enjoying the atmosphere. Scroll down for photos…
