Slight Rise In New Car Sales In Kerry In September

.

NEW car sales in Kerry last month were up slightly compared to September 2023 according to the latest statistics from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).

There were 104 new car registrations in the county in September compared to 100 in the same month in 2023, an increase of 4%. In the first nine months of 2024 there were 2,438 units sold in Kerry compared to 2,404 in the same period in 2023, a rise of 1.41%.

Nationally, new car registrations for September were down over 10% (5,137) when compared to September 2023 (5,727). Registrations year to date are slightly down — 117,264 compared to 118,926 in the first nine months of 2023 (-1.40%).

So far this year, Toyota is the most popular make of car in Kerry with 365 units sold, next Hyundai (307), Kia (289), Volkswagen (251) and Skoda (250).

Diesel is the most popular engine type with 739 units sold,  next is petrol at 722 followed by Petrol Electric Hybrid (552); Petrol/Plug-In Electric Hybrid 206; Electric (198); Diesel Electric (Hybrid) 19 and Diesel/Plug-In Electric Hybrid (2).

Here’s How Many New Cars Were Sold In Kerry In August

.

NEW car sales in Kerry last month were down by almost a fifth compared to August 2023 according to the latest statistics from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).

There were 148 new car registrations in the county in August compared to 182 in the same month in 2023, a decrease of 18.68%. In the first eight months of 2024 there were 2,334 units sold in Kerry compared to 2,305 in the same period in 2023, a rise of 1.26%.

Nationally, new car registrations for August were down 8.45% (7,563) when compared to August 2023 (8,261). Registrations year to date are slightly down — 112,165 compared to 113,338 in the first eight months of 2023 (-1.03%).

So far this year, Toyota is the most popular make of car in Kerry with 352 units sold, next Hyundai (304), Kia (272), Volkswagen (247) and Skoda (233).

Diesel is the most popular engine type with 707 units sold,  next is petrol at 698 followed by Petrol Electric Hybrid (533); Petrol/Plug-In Electric Hybrid 190; Electric (186); Diesel Electric (Hybrid) 18 and Diesel/Plug-In Electric Hybrid (2).

New Car Sales In Kerry Last Month Almost Identical To July 2023

NEW car sales in Kerry last month were almost the same as July 2023 according to the latest statistics from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).

There were 568 new car registrations in the county in July compared to 566 in the same month in 2023, an increase of 0.35%. In the first seven months of 2024 there were 2,188 units sold in Kerry compared to 2,122 in the same period in 2023, a rise of 3.11%.

Nationally, new car registrations for July were down 5.89% (25,726) when compared to July 2023 (27,336). Registrations year to date are almost the same — 104,652 compared to 104,938 in the first seven months of 2023 (-0.27%).

So far this year, Toyota is the most popular make of car in Kerry with 337 units sold, next Hyundai (288), Kia (246), Volkswagen (238) and Skoda (209).

Diesel is the most popular engine type with 666 units sold,  next is petrol at 647 followed by Petrol Electric Hybrid (500); Electric and Petrol/Plug-In Electric Hybrid both on 179; Diesel Electric (Hybrid) 16 and Diesel/Plug-In Electric Hybrid (1).

Big Decrease In New Car Sales In June Compared To Same Month In 2023

THERE was a significant drop in new car sales in Kerry last month compared to June 2023, according to the latest statistics from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).

There were 25 new car registrations in the county in June compared to 50 in the same month in 2023, a decrease of 50%. In the first six months of 2024 there were 1,620 units sold in Kerry compared to 1,556 in the same period in 2023, a rise of over 4%.

Nationally, new car registrations for June were down 50% (1,491) when compared to June 2023 (2,990). Registrations year to date are up 1.72% (78,934) on the same period last year (77,602).

Tesla was most popular make of car in Kerry in June with 7 units sold, next was Ford (6), Volkswagen (3) and Hyundai (2).

Electric was the most popular engine type with nine units sold, while six petrol and five diesel engine cars were sold. Petrol Electric (Hybrid) with four units and Petrol/Plug-In Electric Hybrid made up the rest.

Big Drop In New Car Sales In Kerry Last Month Compared To May 2023

THERE was a significant drop in new car sales in Kerry last month compared to May 2023, according to the latest statistics from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).

There were 73 new car registrations in the county in May compared to 129 in the same month in 2023, a decrease of over 43%. In the first five months of 2024 there were 1,595 units sold in Kerry compared to 1,506 in the same period in 2023, a rise of 5%.

Nationally, new car registrations for May were down 15% (6,407) when compared to May 2023 (7,545). Registrations year to date are up 3.8% (77,453) on the same period last year (74,612).

Toyota was most popular make of car in Kerry in May with 13 units sold each, with the rest of the Top 5 made up of Volkswagen (10), Kia (10), Dacia (6) and Suzuki (5).

The Toyota Yaris, Volkswagen Tiguan, Dacia Sandero and Toyota Rav 4 were the top selling models at four units each followed by the Volkswagen T-Roc, Hyundai Tucson and Toyota Yaris Cross all with three units sold.

Petrol was the most popular engine type with 29 units sold (-19% on May 2023) while 19 diesel engine cars were sold (-44%).

Next is 17 petrol/electric hybrid vehicles, down 29% on May 2023; four Petrol/Plug-In Electric Hybrid (-55%) and four Electric vehicles (-82%).

THERE was a drop in new car sales in Kerry last month compared to April 2023, according to the latest statistics from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).

There were 144 new car registrations in the county in April compared to 159 in the same month in 2023, a decrease of 9.4%.

Nationally, there were 8,591 new car sales last month, while in April 2023 there were 8,912, a decrease of 3.6%. Despite the drop last month, sales of new cars in the first four months of this year are up 7.29% in Kerry.

Volkswagen was most popular make of car in Kerry in April with 22 units sold each, with the rest of the Top 5 made up of Kia (19), Toyota (17) Skoda (15) and Hyundai (15).

The Skoda Octavia was the most popular model with 10 units sold, with the Kia Sportage (7), Toyota Rav 4 (15), Hyundai Kona (7) and Hyundai Tucson (6) made up the top five.

Petrol was the most popular engine type with 49 units sold (same as in April 2023) while 46 diesel engine cars were sold (up 39.3%).

THERE was a slight drop in new car sales in Kerry last month compared to March 2023, according to the latest statistics from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).

There were 302 new car registrations in the county in March compared to 310 in the same month in 2023, a decrease of 2.58%.

Nationally, there were 14,936 new car sales last month, while in March 2023 there were 17,685, a decrease of 15.54%. Despite the drop last month, sales of new cars in the first quarter of this year are up 13.22% in Kerry.

Toyota was most popular make of car in Kerry in March with 51 units sold each, with the rest of the Top 5 made up of Skoda (40), Kia (38) Ford (37) and Volkswagen (25).

The Skoda Octavia was the most popular model with 24 units sold, with the Kia Sportage (16), Toyota Yaris (15), Ford Puma (14) and Toyota Corolla (14) made up the top five.

Petrol was the most popular engine type with 95 units sold (down 6% on March 2023) while 83 diesel engine cars were sold (up 16.9%).

THERE was a significant rise in new car sales in Kerry last month compared to February 2023, according to the latest statistics from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).

There were 364 new car registrations in the county in February compared to 285 in the same month in 2023, a rise of nearly 28%.

Nationally, there were 16,451 new car sales last month, while in 2023 there were 13,122, an increase of 25%.

Hyundai was most popular make of car in Kerry in February with 78 units sold each, with the rest of the Top 5 made up of Kia (36), Volkswagen (35) Toyota (34) and Skoda (33).

The Hyundai Tucson was the most popular model with 53 units sold, with the Kia Sportage (23), Toyota RAV4 (17), Hyundai I20 (13) and Skoda Octavia  (13) making up the top five.

THERE was a rise in new car sales in Kerry last month compared to January 2023, according to the latest statistics from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).

There were 714 new car registrations in the county in January compared to 623 in the same month in 2023, a rise of 14.61%.

Nationally, there were 31,470 new car sales last month, while in 2023 there were 27,337 , an increase of 15.12%.

Toyota was most popular make of car in Kerry in January with 112 units sold each, with the rest of the Top 5 made up of Hyundai (105), Kia (77), Volkswagen (64) and Skoda (60).

The Hyundai Tucson was the most popular model with 70 units sold, with the Kia Sportage (42), Toyota Yaris Cross (25), Toyota Corolla (23) and Toyota RAV4  (20) making up the top five.

Petrol is the most popular engine type with 222 units sold (up 5.71% on Jan 2023) while 219 diesel engine cars were sold (up 25.14%).

NOVEMBER saw eight new cars sold in Kerry, down from 23 sold in the same month last year, according to the latest statistics from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).

However, so far this year there’s been a 6.26% increase in new car sales in Kerry compared to the same period last year with 2,426 new cars sold in the first 11 months compared to 2,283 in the same period last year.

Nationally, there were 947 new car sales last month, a decrease on November 2022 when there were 985 sold (—3.86%). There has been a 15.38% rise in new car sales nationally so far this year on 2022.

So far this year, Hyundai is the most popular make of car in Kerry with 349 units sold, with Toyota next at 333, Kia on 277, Skoda on 227 and Volkswagen at 222 making up the top 5.

The Hyundai Tucson is the most popular model with 194 units sold, with the Kia Sportage (115), Hyundai Kona (69), Toyota Corolla  (64) and Toyota Yaris Cross (60) making up the top five.

SEPTEMBER saw a slight increase in the number of new car sales in Kerry compared to the same month in 2022, according to the latest statistics from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).

There were 98 new car registrations in the county in September compared to 95 in the same month in 2022, an increase of 3%.

So far this year there’s been a 7% increase in new car sales in Kerry compared to the same period last year with 2,392 new cars sold in the first nine months compared to 2,233 in the same period last year.

Nationally, there were 5,660 new car sales last month, a decrease on September 2022 when there were 6,318 sold. There has been a 16% rise in new car sales nationally so far this year on 2022.

So far this year, Hyundai is the most popular make of car in Kerry with 346 units sold, with Toyota next at 329, Kia on 276, Skoda on 223 and Volkswagen at 222 making up the top 5.

AUGUST saw a significant increase in the number of new car sales in Kerry compared to the same month in 2022, according to the latest statistics from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).

There were 181 new car registrations in the county in August compared to 155 in the same month in 2022, a rise of nearly 17%.

So far this year there’s been a 7% increase in new car sales in Kerry compared to the same period last year with 2,295 new cars sold in the first eight months compared to 2,145 in the same period last year.

Nationally, there were 8,119 new car sales last month, a tiny decrease on August 2022 when there were 8,154 sold. There has been a 17.6% rise in new car sales nationally so far this year on 2022.

So far this year, Hyundai is the most popular make of car in Kerry with 342 units sold, with Toyota next at 321, Kia on 257, Volkswagen at 216 and Skoda on 215 making up the top 5.

JULY saw an increase in the number of new car sales in Kerry compared to the same month in 2022, according to the latest statistics from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).

There were 559 new car registrations in the county in July compared to 518 in the same month in 2022, a rise of nearly 8%.

So far this year there’s been a 6.71% increase in new car sales in Kerry compared to the same period last year with 2,144 new cars sold in the first seven months compared to 1,981 in the same period last year.

Nationally, there were 27,143 new car sales last month, a big increase on July 2022 when there were 21,904 sold, a rise of nearly 24%. There has been a 20% rise in new car sales nationally so far this year on 2022.

So far this year, Toyota is the most popular make of car in Kerry with 307 units sold, with Hyundai next at 298, Kia on 228, Volkswagen at 204 and Skoda on 197 making up the top 5.

JUNE saw a decrease in the number of new car sales in Kerry compared to the same month in 2022, according to the latest statistics from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).

There were 50 new car registrations in the county in June compared to 68 in the same month in 2022, a fall of over 26%.

So far this year there’s been a 3.6% decrease in new car sales in Kerry compared to the same period last year with 1,555 new cars sold in the first six months compared to 1,614 in the same period last year.

Nationally, there were 2,991 new car sales last month, a big increase on June 2022 when there were 2,154 sold, a rise of over 38%. There has been a 10% rise in new car sales nationally so far this year on 2022.

So far this year, Hyundai is the most popular make of car in Kerry with 215 units sold, with Toyota next at 213, Kia on 178, Skoda on 152 and Volkswagen at 145 making up the top 5.

MAY saw an increase in the number of new car sales in Kerry compared to the same month in 2022, according to the latest statistics from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).

There were 129 new car registrations in the county in May compared to 118 in the same month in 2022, a rise of over 9%. So far this year there’s been a 7% rise in new car sales in Kerry compared to the same period last year

Nationally, there were 7,557 new car sales last month, a big increase on May 2022 when there were 5,295 sold, a rise of over 42%. There has been a 18% rise in new car sales nationally so far this year on 2022.

Kia was the most popular make of car in Kerry in May with 20 units sold, with the rest of the Top 5 made up of Toyota (19), Volkswagen/Hyundai (14 each) and Peugeot (10).

The Hyundai Tucson was the most popular model with 14 units sold, with the Toyota C-HR (6), Volkswagen ID4/Toyota Yaris/Kia Sportage (5 each) making up the top five.

THERE’S been an increase of nearly 8% in new car sales in Kerry so far this year compared to the same period in 2022, according to the latest statistics from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).

There have been 1,376 new car registrations in the county in the first four months compared to 1,277 in the same month in 2022, a rise of 7.75%. In April there were 159 new car sales in Kerry compared to 158 in the same month last year.

Nationally, there have been 67,018 new car sales from January to April, a 16% increase on the same period in 2022 when there were 57,762 sold.

In Kerry, Toyota is.the most popular make of car in Kerry so far this year with 188 units sold, with the rest of the Top 5 made up of Hyundai (186), Kia (158), Skoda (145) and Volkswagen (130).

The Hyundai Tucson is the most popular model with 98 units sold, with the Kia Sportage on 67 and the Toyota Yaris, Yaris Cross and Corrolla one 39 units each making up the top five.

MARCH saw an increase in the number of new car sales in Kerry compared to the same month in 2022, according to the latest statistics from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).

There were 311 new car registrations in the county in March compared to 275 in the same month in 2022, a rise of 13%.

Nationally, there were 17,676 new car sales last month, a big increase on March 2022 when there were 12,907 sold, a rise of nearly 37%.

Toyota was the most popular make of car in Kerry in March with 41 units sold, with the rest of the Top 5 made up of Volkswagen (36), Skoda (35), Kia (33) and Hyundai (31).

FEBRUARY saw almost the same number of new car sales in Kerry compared to the same month in 2022, according to the latest statistics from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).

There were 285 new car registrations in the county in February compared to 286 in the same month in 2022.

Nationally, there were 13,161 new car sales last month, while in February 2022 there were 11,971, an increase of nearly 10%.

Hyundai was the most popular make of car in Kerry in February with 42 units sold each, with the rest of the Top 5 made up of Kia (37), Toyota (36), Skoda (34) and Volkswagen (23).

January Was A Good Month For New Car Sales In Kerry

THERE was a rise in new car sales in Kerry last month compared to January 2022, according to the latest statistics from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).

There were 624 new car registrations in the county in January compared to 558 in the same month in 2022, a rise of 11.83%.

Nationally, there were 27,363 new car sales last month, while in 2022 there were 25,014, an increase of 9.39%.

Toyota and Hyundai were the joint most popular make of car in Kerry in January with 96 units sold each, with the rest of the Top 5 made up of Skoda (63), Kia (58) and Peugeot (57).

The Hyundai Tucson was the most popular model with 48 units sold, with the Toyota Yaris Cross (27), Toyota Yaris (26), Hyundai Kona (21) and Kia Sportage (18) making up the top five.

Petrol cars overtook diesel as the most popular engine type with 212 units sold (up 28% on Jan 2022) while 174 diesel engine cars were sold (up 4%).

Next is 119 petrol/electric hybrid vehicles sold, exactly the same as January 2022, 68 Electric vehicles (+38%); 31 petrol/plug-in electric hybrid (-16%) and 20 diesel electric hybrid (+54%). No petrol/gas cars were sold compared to eight in January 2022.

THERE were 2,281 new car sales in Kerry last year according to the latest statistics from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI), up 2.6% on the 2021 figure of 2,223.

December saw just three new car sales compared to 18 in 2021. Nationally, there were 105,253 new car registrations last year, up just 0.3% when compared to 2021.

Hyundai was the most popular make of new car sold in Kerry last year at 452 units. The rest of the Top 5 was made up of Toyota (281), Kia (251), Volkswagen (247) and Skoda (175).

The Hyundai Tucson was the most popular model with 297 units sold. The Kia Sportage (126) is next followed by Toyota Corolla (72) the Peugeot 3008 (66) and the Hyundai Kona (55).

There have been 828 diesel engine vehicles sold, 683 petrol vehicles, 367 petrol electric (hybrid), 236 electric vehicles, 124 petrol/plug-in electric hybrid, 26 diesel electric hybrid vehicles, 11 petrol and gas, four gas and two Diesel/Plug-In Electric Hybrid.

New Car Sales In Kerry Slightly Up So Far This Year Compared To 2021

THERE were 23 new car sales in Kerry last month according to the latest statistics from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI), down 23% on the November 2021 total of 30.

So far this year 2,278 new cars have been sold in Kerry, up 3.3% on the first ten months of last year when  2,205 were sold.

Nationally, new car registrations for November were down 12% (982) when compared to November 2021 (1,120). Registrations year to date are up 0.5% (105,039) on the same period last year (104,545).

Hyundai was the most popular make of new car sold in Kerry so far this year at 452 units. The rest of the Top 5 was made up of Toyota (280), Kia (251), Volkswagen (246) and Skoda (175).

New Car Sales In Kerry Up 5% In First Nine Months Of 2022

THERE were 95 new car sales in Kerry last month according to the latest statistics from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).

So far this year 2,227 new cars have been sold in Kerry this year, up 4.9% on the same time last year when  2,123 were sold.

Nationally, new car registrations for September were up 42.5% (6,340) when compared to September 2021 (4,449).

Registrations year to date are up 0.7% (101,492) on the same period last year (100,745) and are 10.9% behind (113,945) that of pre-Covid levels.

THERE was an increase in new car sales in Kerry last month compared to August 2021, according to the latest statistics from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).

There were 155 new car registrations in the county in August compared to 134 in the same month in 2021, an increase of over 15%.

So far this year 2,132 new cars have been sold in Kerry this year, up 5.8% on the same time last year when 2,015 were sold. Nationally there were 8,157 new car sales last month, while in August 2021 there were 5,966, an increase of over 36%.

Volkswagen was the most popular make of car sold in Kerry in August at 31 units. The rest of the Top 5 was made up of Kia (23), Skoda (17), Hyundai (12) and Toyota (11).

The Kia Sportage was the most popular model with 17 units sold. The Volkswagen ID.4 (13),  Toyota RAV4 (7) and the Skoda Kamiq and Volkswagen Tiguan (both on 6 units sold) making up the top 5.

THERE was a slight increase in new car sales in Kerry last month compared to July 2021, according to the latest statistics from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).

There were 520 new car registrations in the county in July  compared to 516 in the same month in 2021, an increase of less that 1%.

So far this year 1,980 new cars have been sold in Kerry this year, up 5.26% on the same time last year when 1,881 were sold. Nationally there were 21,902 new car sales last month, while in July 2021 there were 26,477 a decrease of over 17%.

Hyundai was by far the most popular make of car in Kerry sold in July at 122 units, The rest of the Top 5 was made up of Toyota (78), Volkswagen (69), Kia (52) and Skoda (37).

The Hyundai Tucson was the most popular model with 96 units sold, the Kia Sportage (32), Volkswagen T-Roc (22), Peugeot 3008 (19) and Toyota CH-R and Toyota Corolla both on 18 units sold making up the top 5.

There were 220 diesel cars sold, 150 petrol, 87 petrol electric (hybrid) vehicles, 35 electric, 21 petrol/plug-in electric hybrid, six diesel electric and one gas vehicle.

New Car Sales Rise By Over 200% In June Compared To Same Month Last Year

THERE was a huge increase in new car sales in Kerry last month compared to June 2021, according to the latest statistics from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).

There were 68 new car registrations in the county in June  compared to 22 in the same month in 2021, an increase of around 210%.

So far this year 1,460 new cars have been sold in Kerry this year, up 6.96% on the same time last year. Kerry bucked the national trend as there were 2,154 new car sales last month, while in June 2021 there were 2,762 a decrease of over 22%.

It appears the high sales last month can be attributed to one particular brand.

Hyundai was by far the most popular make of car in Kerry sold in June with 41 units, The rest of the Top 5 was made up of Kia (7), Ford (6), Skoda (5) and Toyota (3).

The Hyundai Tucson was the most popular model with 38 units sold, the Kia Sportage (6), Ford Fiesta (3), Toyota Yaris and Skoda Scala (2 each) made up the top 5.

There were 48 diesel cars sold and 11 petrol. Next is six petrol/electric hybrid vehicles, two electric and one petrol/gas.

THERE was a slight increase in new car sales in Kerry last month compared to May 2021, according to the latest statistics from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).

There were 116 new car registrations in the county in May 2022 compared to 113 in the same month in 2021, an increase of around 2.65%.

So far this year 1,392 new cars have been sold in Kerry this year, up 3.65% on the same time last year. Kerry bucked the national trend as there were 5,303 new car sales last month, while in May 2021 there were 5,914 a decrease of over 10%.

Volkswagen was the most popular make of car in Kerry in May with 30 units sold, with the rest of the Top 5 made up of Hyundai (23), Peugeot (13), Kia (11) and Toyota (6).

The Volkswagen Polo and Hyundai Tucson were the most popular model with 9 units sold each, the Peugeot 3008 and Volkswagen T-Cross both sold 6 each and the Hyundai Bayon and Hyundai 120 also sold 5 each.

Petrol cars are took over as the most popular engine type in May with 54 units sold compared to 33 diesel sold.

THERE was an increase in new car sales in Kerry last month compared to April 2021, according to the latest statistics from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).

There were 158 new car registrations in the county in April 2022 compared to 138 in the same month in 2021, an increase of around 14.5%.

So far this year 1,277 new cars have been sold in Kerry this year, up 3.8% on the same time last year. Nationally, there were 7,886 new car sales last month, while in April 2021 there were 7,147, an increase of over 10%.

THERE was a big increase in new car sales in Kerry last month compared to March 2021, according to the latest statistics from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).

There were 276 new car registrations in the county in March 2022 compared to 185 in the same month in 2021, an increase of over 49%.

So far this year 1,120 new cars have been sold in Kerry this year, up just 2% on last year. Nationally, there were 12,935 new car sales last month, while in March 2021 there were 9,192, an increase of over 40%.

THERE was a decrease in new car sales in Kerry last month compared to February 2021, according to the latest statistics from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).

There were 292 new car registrations in the county in February 2021 compared to 358 in the same month in 2021, a fall of over 18%.

Nationally, there were 12,031 new car sales last month, while in February 2021 there were 13,698, a decrease of over 12%.

THERE was a slight rise in new car sales in Kerry last month compared to January 2021, according to the latest statistics from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI),.

There were 560 new car registrations in the county in January  2021 compared to 549 in the same month in 2021, a rise of 2%.

Nationally, there were 25,092 new car sales last month, while in 2021 there were 25,140, a decrease of 0.19%.
