THEY came from all over the county to sing at The Voice UK auditions at The Blasket bar on Castle Street last night.

Researchers from the popular ITV show were in the bar to film the singers to see if Kerry singers have star potential.

“We had a huge reaction to the news they were coming here,” said George Savage of The Blasket. “It’s great that they’re coming to smaller regional towns as well as the cities. We have some great talent here in Kerry and hopefully they’ll pick someone up for the show,” said George.

There were singers of varying styles from Lixnaw, Dingle, Tralee, Listowel and elsewhere who — after being introduced by MC Andrew Morrissey —  were filmed by Lauren and Nicola for ITV.

If they impress the powers that be in London, they could get a call from the popular ITV show which has judges Tom Jones, Will I Am, Gavin Rossdale and Jennifer Hudson picking singers based on their voice rather than what they look like.

Best of luck to all who took park and let’s hope we see you on TV later this year! Scroll down for photos…
