Best of luck to our U 14 girls who are competing in the 2016 All Ireland B Club finals in Antrim this weekend. For some of the girls this is their second year in a row which is a fantastic achievement. They worked hard all year for this and we would like to wish them and coach Martin the very best of luck from the Tralee Imperials Basketball Cub.

Congrats to our under 12 girls who played in the listowel tournament last week who won their pool group. They then beat Lixnaw in the quarter finals and Maree of Galway in the semi finals. They played Tullamore in final and were winning from the onset until the last 2 mins when Tullamore scored to level the game, Tullamore went on to win by 3 points.

Imperials girls were captained by their top scorer Clodagh Murray, who scored 14 of the 18 points in the semi final. The team must be commended for their great teamwork, movement and great defence and also for the hard work of their coaches.

THE Tralee Imperials U18 Boys have made club history by completing the double this season, capturing both the u18 division 1 county cup and league titles as a  77-70 victory over a very strong St. Mary’s side sealed top position on the league table on Monday night.

The game was closely fought with the Castleisland side leading for most of it, and were 40-33 up at half time, but the Tralee boys showed great determination and strength to finish out the game with a win.

Ryan Leonard lit up the scoreboard with a massive 42pts. Incredibly 23 of those points came in the final quarter to ensure Tralee Imperials first u18 boys league title.

Other scorers on the night included Dara Devine (14pts), captain Keelan Crowe (11pts), Philip Corkery (5pts) and Kieran Mangan (5pts). Overall it was an excellent team effort with Patrick Kearney and Robbie Dinan playing their part in defence and the boys on the sideline encouraging their team mates to fight for every ball.

It was a fantastic end to a very successful season for Imperials, including reaching the final 8 in the National Cup.

Credit is due to the coaches, John Dowling and Rick Leonard, and team manager, Sarah Dinan, for their time and dedication throughout the season, and the club thanked Leahy Construction Ltd. for their continued sponsorship.
