Always keen to keep fit and challenge himself physically and mentally, Kieran came up with the idea for the gruelling fundraiser following the loss of his beloved wife Fiona and his parents within a short time of each other.

“Cancer has impacted many of us. The majority of families and friends, including ours, have been affected by cancer, and it is paramount that those in need get the best and most professional care possible.” said Kieran.

Patrick O’Sullivan and Daniel Bohan will join Kieran in this year’s fundraiser. Patrick, originally from Caherslee, is a lifelong friend of Kieran and his family.

He has completed many triathlons and is looking forward to taking part in this exciting adventure.

Daniel, who holds two All Ireland Senior Football Championship medals for Kerry, is a sponsor of this year’s event through his company Daniel Bohan Wealth Management, he is also a club mate of Kieran’s from Austin Stacks.

Both have witnessed close friends affected by cancer and were inspired by the Comfort for Chemo initiative as they know the benefit of having this treatment available for the Kerry community.

Over the past few years €10,000  has been raised through the Dingle Way 24 hour Challenge.

This year’s target is €30,000 and the beneficiary is ComfortforChemoKerry. Of the choice of charity for 2021 Kieran said Comforr for Chemo Kerry’s vision is to build a centre of excellence for the patients of Kerry, who need Chemotherapy and Oncologucal treatments.

Due to the Pandemic, a lot of charities have found it difficult to raise funds, and lots of events have been cancelled. We would like to do the best we can to raise funds for the new Unit, and hope that you can support us in any way you can”.
