AS Tralee celebrates its top three finish in the latest Irish Business Against Litter (IBAL) results, the Tidy Tralee awards for best estates have also been announced this week.
Tralee has made huge strides in the past few years and its placing this week, rising from 25th place in January to third this time, has drawn praise for the work of volunteers around the town.
“It’s a great result for Tralee. It’s the best result we’ve ever achieved and it’s down to the dedication of all these people here,” said Kieran Ruttledge of the Tralee Chamber Alliance, speaking to TraleeToday.ie on Tuesday.
“Pride in the town has become much more apparent over the last few years as everybody is well aware of the fact that a good looking town is good for business.”
“We’ve got a lot of good groups all working together. We all meet on a fortnightly basis to highlight the problems and remedy them. So the system has been working well. We have a lot of people who are willing to give up their time to keep the town looking good and that’s bearing fruit now,” he said.
Meanwhile the Tidy Tralee estate award winners have been announced and a familiar name is at the top of the pile again.
