IT’S been a good week for two local hospitality businesses who received glowing compliments in national and international media.

The Sunday World gave The Roast House a 5/5 review while Ballygarry House Hotel received high praise in The Irish Post, a UK weekly newspaper aimed at expats.

The Sunday World’s ‘Grub Spy’ critic made their way to The Roast House after a tip-off they received about the restaurant on Denny Street.

“The Roast House was the kind of unpretentious eatery that inevitably becomes a must-visit destination,” said The Sunday World, Grub Spy.

Staff at the restaurant were also praised by the undercover reviewer who says “the servers at The Roast House would make a fortune selling their silver tongued charm”.

Ballygarry House Hotel was visited by Sharon Ni Chonchuir of The Irish Post. She has an Irish Language column in the newspaper and lives nearby on the Dingle Peninsula.

“A recent stay in Ballygarry House in Tralee came as a much-needed wake-up call. Seeing where I live through the eyes of a tourist made me realise just how lucky I am that this is where I get to call home,” said Sharon Ni Chonchuir.

“You’ll find dark wooden nooks, libraries of books and deep comfy chairs placed in front of fireplaces throughout the hotel. In fact, it’s the perfect place for that autumnal or wintry weekend when all you want to do is sit by the fire reading a book and sipping cups of hot cocoa or glasses of hot whiskey,” said Sharon.

These kind of reviews are a welcome boost to the town and will hopefully attract more people to explore all the good things the town has to offer.
