Seriously Sound Food Co. was founded by Richard and Shane with the aim of creating a sustainable, nutritious and 100% plant-based alternative to chicken.  The result is plant-based chicken pieces that can be used in stews, curries, casseroles and even sandwiches.

Speaking about being selected as a finalist for this year’s Grow with ALDI competition, Richard Sharp of Seriously Sound Food Co. said: “We are absolutely delighted to be among this year’s Grow with ALDI finalists. At Seriously Sound Food Co., we are on a mission to makeover the meat aisle by creating amazing, sustainably produced, 100% plant-based chicken and we are glad to receive this vote of confidence from the judges.

“We look forward to introducing the people of Ireland to our Carolina BBQ and Naked Pieces. Hopefully making it easier for people to go plant-based. We thank ALDI for their support to date and look forward to seeing our product in the supermarket aisle,” said Richard.

Undertaken in partnership with Bord Bia, Grow with ALDI is now in its sixth year and invites suppliers from across the island of Ireland to back their passion and take their business to the next level.

First launched in 2018, the scheme has seen ALDI invest more than €8 million into championing over 230 producers and give Irish produced unrivalled access to Irish consumers, ensuring they can grow and thrive in the Irish market.

Successful applicants were assessed and selected based on their passion, the quality of their produce and their entrepreneurial spirit.
