TRALEE IMPERIALS WON 25 V 23 after extra time against St Annes. A really exciting game. The girls played fantastically and kept their heads when they were under presssure.

Tralee Imperials v Maree

There they faced a talented Maree team. Tralee trailed 14-8 at the end of the 1st quarter. In a closely contested second quarter, Tralee went ahead by 2pts but by the end of the half Maree led 39-31.

Maree extended their lead in the 3rd quarter (60-44). Final score: Maree 75 Tralee Imperials 59. Top scorers: R. Leonard (25), K. Crowe (16), D. Devine (8). Well done to the team, reaching the last eight is a fantastic achievement. The cup team were as follows: Philip Corkery, Michael Linnane, Deaglán Crowe, Ryan Leonard, Patrick Kearney, Keelan Crowe, Dara Devine, Tristan Raymond, Rory O’Connor, Kieran Mangan, Dovydas Baltonis and Robbie Dinan.

Thanks to our team sponsor, Leahy Construction Ltd., and all the parents who travelled to Galway, your support is much appreciated. A special thanks to coaches John Dowling and Rick Leonard for the time give and dedication to the team.

Tralee Imperials v St. Mary’s

Our u18 boys played St. Mary’s in the county league in Castleisland last Saturday (19th Dec.).

Tralee did well to stay within touching distance with the home side, who led 30-22 at half time. St. Mary’s extended their lead by more than 20pts in the third quarter but scores from Leonard and Devine reduced the deficit to 13pts.

Still feeling the effects from their 400km round trip to Galway for their National Cup quarterfinal less than 18 hours ago, the Tralee boys dug deep in the fourth quarter. Defensive rebounds and 3s from Corkery, Leonard, Devine and K. Crowe, and trailed by just 3pts with 4mins left on the clock.

Ryan Leonard stepped up to the free throw line with his team trailing by 2pts and only 3.4secs remaining in the game. Leonard held his nerve and sent the game in to overtime (66-66). Scores from Leonard and K. Crowe cancelled out those of St. Mary’s and with the score 73-73 the game went to a second overtime. Unfortunately, Tralee ran out of steam and St. Mary’s clinched victory by 5pts. Final score 83-78. Top scorers: Leonard (39), K. Crowe (16), Corkery (12)
