ACADEMY

Our u10s had a fantastic evening playing St. Brendan’s boys and girls. There was a fantastic atmosphere in the Complex as the children got their first taste of playing games against opposition. Future Warriors in the making.

The team welcomed back head coach Henrique to training on Tuesday. Despite the loss, the coaches can see huge improvements in the boys and are looking forward to more games.

U12 Girls T1

Tralee Imperials 47-16 Kenmare Kestrels

U12 Girls T1 had a strong panel of 11 against Kenmare Kestrels.

The Imperials girls had a great 1st quarter with all 5 on the score sheet 18 to 4 end of the first.

Imperials kept a strong hold throughout despite Kenmare coming into the game in each quarter.

Excellent layups and rebounding stood to the girls and a low fouling game showed great improvements particularly when they have not played a game since December.

Final score 47-16.

Top scorers: Sofia Rybanska 10 pts, Sarah Chute 8 pts

U14 Girls T1

St. Mary’s 20-71 Tralee Imperials

U14 Girls T1 continued their winning form with a good win against St. Mary’s in Castleisland Community Centre.

Imperials were quick out of the traps with Priya O Donovan and Saoirse McCarthy scoring well. 1st quarter score 6 – 16 to Imperials.

The second quarter saw Imperials stretch their lead with Emily Flynn and Ciara Costello in control under the boards and Anna Chute hitting shot after shot from distance. Half time 9 – 35

The third quarter saw Imperials pick up the pace taking advantage of their dominance under the boards to set up good team fast break scores. It was great to see selfless play from all the girls making the right passes at the right time to result in easy finishes.  Scores coming this quarter from Anna O’Sullivan, Sophie Mitchell and Ciara Costello.  Score after 3rd Quarter 15 – 51

The final quarter saw Imperials continue to score well through Priya O Donovan, Anna O Sullivan and Sophie Mitchell. Unfortunately, Emily Flynn who was having a huge game with 10 rebounds and 7 points suffered an ankle injury and had to leave the match. We wish Emily a speedy recovery.

It was a great team performance by all the girls. Final score St. Mary’s Castleisland 20 – 71 Tralee Imperials

U18 Girls T1

TK Bobcats 49-42 Tralee Imperials

The u18 div 1 girls played Team Kerry Bobcats in the fifth round league game in Cumann Iosaef on Tuesday February 8th in the Div 1&2 league.

Imperials after a tough weekend of National Cup games were slow to start this game and were 21-8 to TK Bobcats at the end of the first quarter.

TK Bobcats Ella Quirke made a number of shots with the Imperials looking sluggish in defence and failing to capitalise in transition.

Lauren Smullen and Niamh Collins kept Imperials in touch with some fine outside shots leaving the score at half time 33-18 to TK Bobcats.

Tralee Imperials changed up the defence man to man and Holly O’Brien worked superbly on the floor throughout this quarter to get herself two nice floaters and bringing herself to the free throw line where she gained some additional scores.

The score at the end of the quarter was 35-29 to TK Bobcats.

The Imperials girls hustled well throughout the last quarter with Clodagh Murray rebounding well under the boards and Grace Lucid and Aisling Ni Ainifein making their outside shots.

The final score was 49-42 to TK Bobcats.

Top Scorers:
Niamh Collins 13, Holly O’Brien 11, Aisling Ni Ainiféin 6
